Sound off on your favorite BDU pattern.

Question:
What is your favorite BDU uniform?

Choices:
Army's ACU
Air Force's ABU
Marines' MARPAT
The DCU
The forest BDU

 

Although I'm joining the AF I guess i'll have to say the marine Marpat has to be the best of the new service specific uniforms. It has a great camoflauge pattern (both forest and desert), and the layout is great (It's the ACU minus the velcro).

Oh yeah, you should take your time on your decision to join. If I remember right your still in high school and young, trust me a lot can change in your mind before you graduate. Best of luck to you in making that decision. The most important thing for you to do right now is do good in school and keep out of trouble. Don't forget to enjoy it too, before you know it your gonna be through with it.

as for the individual equiptment issue I have an issue.
I have been in the army for a number of years and every time some one gets a wild hair to change some thing in the uniform I end up having to buy it. It is usualy more than a $5.00 item
I remember the whole new Army Physical Fittness uniform it was great some thing finail functional at last and oh by the way every one WILL have the new unifom for the next BN pt run talk about $300.00 down the drain. and by years end you will have 2 full sets mean while the INTENDO generation coming out of basic training are arriving at the units not only with the new uniforms but a bonus to boot
lets talk about the ACU
they came out when our unit was down range again CSM says every one will have at least one set by the next WELCOME home formation.
not only did we have to by them we did not even know what to buy. and once again the kids coming out of basic are arriving with the new uniforms and again a bigger bonus
not only are we mandated to reup for indef with on money we have to buy all the up dated uniforms
lets just talk about the ACU vest and Molly gear
there is 3 different shades of tack vest
BDU
DCU
ACU
and we are being told that the CSM better not find any one with a DCU vest or helmet cover on by a certin date
I went down to CIF to get a direct exchange and the civilians that where not doing any thing told me that the unit that I am in is going to get their RFI soon and I can not exchange any of it
I than asked about turning in some of the old TAS 50 and the 3 different shade of colors and they told me the only way is to wait until I PCS ETS OR RETIRE
I now have 6 duffel bags of stuff I am signed for and I guess I am ready to go to any country except Snow I better be quite before that will coast me money and 2 more duffel bags to boot

I like the MCCUU with the desert MARPAT pattern. Looks to be very effective.

Haven't heard much good about the ACUs. The new ABUs look nice, though.

The ABU looks rather strange. Like some kind of weird tiger strip stuff.

The ACU has grown on me. I like it.
