My fellow GMs and I here at Sector San Francisco have been given the opportunity to assist a museum submarine (USS Pampanito) with restoring their weapons. They will not be restored to operational use, but to show/museum status. The museum has hit a wall, though, and has asked for our help. So, I am, in turn, asking for yours. We are looking for any manuals on the 40mm Bofors, 5" 25 wet mount, or a twin 20mm. We are also asking for any tool kits that you may have laying around from any of those weapon systems. Your assistance is appreciated. Thanks.
Many years ago CG GM school taught both the 40 and the 20. It's possible there may be a few manuals for those stuffed in dusty boxes in a corner at the school. Might be worth checking with them at least.
You may want to find a POC at FTCLANT Damneck. I know the Gun school has been shut down at Great Lakes, but the pubs and material have to be out there somewhere. Also, NSWC Port Hueneme may have some archives at the Surface Warfare Eng. Facility. Happy Hunting!
