I am prior Navy and am looking at going Coast Guard, and was wondering about the GM rating. I know all of the big things that the rate does, I was wondering about all of the little things and the PITA stuff that is done. I have seen it said that the rate is a sea-going rate and I have no problem with that. In the 3 years that I was DIRSEP in VA 1.5 of them were spent on the water.
