It's been overdue but in their defense I must say that it's not that easy. The weapons program has dramatically changed in past years as we have replaced or supplemented all the small arms in our inventory except for the M2. With new weapons come new training requirements so that has to make it in the ordnance manual. Compounding that is the fact that we in the Ordnance Field are more involved with special missions and new procedures than ever before. This manual, as so many others, have to go through all the program managers for certification. Is to say since our field cross-pollinates with so many missions/programs, their approval is needed. In simple words it has to go through every other desk in HQ. If someone disagrees it's back to the drawing board for discussion. Hope this helps and sorry for the long reply.
Talked to Gunner from OCU last week at the ORD conference in Portsmouth....it is still at HQ pending approval!!! He would not comment on when it would be released. I do know that when I was teaching at Yorktown, we started the re-write in the beginning of 2003....not me so much, but the other instructors...and now it is going on 2007....not out yet!! A hig BZ for getting the job done in typical fashion!!
hahahahahahahahahahahahaha....it must be time for the yearly "When's the new Ord Manual coming out" session. 4+ years and counting. In any other vocation the failure to get a new product out on the street in a timely fashion would be considered failure and cause for firing, but not in our world...
I got to CG-3RPC-1 a month ago and the ORDMAN was the first thing placed on my desk. Unfortunately things work very slowly at HQ so even when I'm done with it, it may take a while to get out to the fleet. Can't say when it will get out to you but it is being actively worked on.

Well Brad, that's the understatement of the year. I don't know what goes on up there, but keeping the fleet informed is apparently not a priority. The "New" Ordman has been "In the works" for at least the last 7 years. Even at the snails pace of HQ, this could have been done 5 times over if anyone really wanted to make it a priority.
If you could here what the whole Ordnance community is saying, it would sound something like this.....CLICK HERE.
