Yep, I saw the billets for GM2's and a couple of GM1's. They will be at Level 1 stations(stations that do the PWCS mission). I think it will start up this transfer cycle. I forsee that besides your regular armory duties you'll probably be tagged with boatcrewman, radio watch and whatever else station people do! Frown

I talked to Gunner a couple of weeks ago. He has to fill by this summer. If you are an over billet, you may want to volunteer vice being selected and directed. Yes, the billet will require you to get LE and BC qualified on top of your GM duties. If you get orders, try and be a GM vice a BM as much as possible. Cool Good Luck to all and make sure you work closely with your closest armory.

mboccia, be careful what you wish for.
I bet the Chiefs subordinate out there at the Armory could tell you all about life as a GM at a small boat station... Eek

Mark:

If you want to come back to Sector LM, STA Cal Harbor has an unfilled GM billet.

Unfortunately, I am told, it is a low priority fill.

Would it be a terrible thing to be put at a station, from what I have read The Bm's and so on would enjoy it. plus those GM's who like law enforcement will get a better chance to do it. Am I correct?
I havent joined yet so i dont know anything. fall 08

...a BM posts.....

It would be awesome to have a GM here at the Sta. I guarentee he/she would daywork (0730-1530 M-F). You'd have to get BC/LE, but dayworkers don't stand duty, therefore they don't get u/w except to meet their currency requirements. A GM would fit in great with WEPO, SAI, LEPO etc. Believe me, BMs would take it as a GODSEND to not have to do ATRs anymore... you'd be *protected*.... Beer

Those are all warm and wonderful thoughts but history and experience tells a far different story. Hopefully someday you'll be packing the paygrade to make those statements come true.

We just had a GM2 assigned to our unit! I know our BM2 that has been overtasked with LE is ecstatic.

I was suprised at how fast the wheels turned on this one. We definitaly needed a GM2 at the Station level.

...take good care of the Gunner's Mate and he/she will take care of you.

Only thing I can hope is that station folks wont forget what it's like/was like without them! Beer

CHGuns is right. Some Stations will do it right, but most will treat the GM as a SLJPO.

I'd rather have a sister in a whorehouse then a brother that was a GM at a station. GM's belong underway.

I see you nonchalantly slipped in there LEPO....yea right! A GM will be there mainly to Take care of all the weapons that have'nt been maintained by the BM's. Which is good coz thats not a BM job...although it is in the BM2 EOCT. Like we've said GM's be careful what you wish for coz your primary job taking care of the Armory, maintenance of weps, and SAI will soon be a collateral at a station. Gun
