That thing is never going to get finished. I still say that they should do like the other services and ad and subtract pages (updates) to the book we already have, you can even do that with the PDF documents. E-mail the updates, print them and save some money on the shipping. I bet is getting re-revised every time is getting sent up. That’s why it has taken almost ten years to update, now even aviation has something to do with weapons.
Here is the problem with that. They would have to take out all of the pages. First, when they combined the Ordnance Manual and the Small Arms Manual together, there were alot of unchanged references within the manual. Second, there is so much that has changed in the last ten years, especially post 9/11. I talked with a certain individual a couple weeks ago and they said it will not be long. They are reviewing the manual as we speak. And yes I know, they have been saying this for ten years now.
Poor guy writing that thing must be pulling his hair out. is just funny how long it has taken, i met a GM2 that actually never seen a paper ordman. thats funny!
The ORDMAN has left our office (CG-7D Small Arms Program) and has gone to concurrent clearance. I don't have a time line as to how long the process will take. Unfortunately as the expansion of the ordnance world within the CG has grown so has the number of directorates that will get a crack at the manual before we can get it out. As for our hair, most of it's still there thanks to the workload being shared by those that stepped up and helped with the updating and editing process.

No, it is not funny, it is sad and wrong! Everyone should have a hard copy of the ORDMAN! Computers are not always relieable but the "paper copy" is! He is lucky I have not inspected him!
