Hello i am currently serving in the Air Force as security forces mostly as nuclear security and am debating joining the Coast guard when i get out in 4 months

I don't think i fully understand the job..Is it only like armory duty or weapons training..do you every get to use the weapons your trained on and training others on in a real sitation. Also what is this cutter duty i hear about. I figure its better to ask here then ask a recruiter because face it we know they lie.

Gunnersmate is more like this. http://youtube.com/watch?v=o_ccswGOVMA

law enforcement is a colateral duty. not everyone gets to do it. we are pretty much armorers and small arms instructors.

As the previous poster noted, LE is a collateral duty. That means it is not a job by itself, it is one of many duties that may be performed by people in many ratings, not just GM's.

In other words most Coast Guard LE is done by BM's and MK's. Yes other rates are involved as well. The difference is in those other rates you may due LE at one duty station and not the next. As a BM or an MK you are likely to be involved in LE during most of your tours.
