Is anyone aware of if GM is still to critical of a rating that one could not apply for a special duty assignment? Thanks

Not sure if it is, but why would you not want to try? The worst they could say is NO. Worth the effort.

I have spoke with the detailer regarding Special assignments and also spoke with the Special Assignment Detailer. The only one that the Special assignment detailer will go to bat for you on is CC. Unless of course you make GMC then thats a whole different story. There are 5 GM1's still who have applied, been accepted and cannot get release for recruiting. Good luck!

Wasn't too hard, I did it. Depends on needs. Company Commander is a hard fill. Only so many applicants even get picked and then you have to survive the school. I even thought that now released I could just stay and go recruiter.....now that they're bringing back GM1 servicewide I guess its not so critical. Dont worry Gunner....waiting for August message for PATFORSWA.

I did not release any members for AY10 who were not already in special assignments due to the uncertainty of the GM rating with the new ME rating stand up. Those who were already in special assignments I looked at on a case by case basis and allowed two who were tour complete in AY10 to remain in Special Assignments. Due to the number of GMs returning to rate in AY11, I could not allow everyone to remain in Special Assignments for two reasons: the uncertainty of the GM rating, and the probability of locking up advancements to GMC for AY11. When you advance in Special Assignments you do not count against the rate (make GMC for example), but when you return to rate, that takes away one potential advancement from GMC all the way down to GM2 with the trickle down effect. This decision may not have benefited every member, but the rating is sure to see the benefit.
