No not me.
I wonder how many of the suicide's that will happen this holiday season will be caused by the economy, and how many will be caused by the season its self (xmas). I know alot of people that go all out at this time of year going into debt, maxing out their creditcards and so on because they have decided their kids deserve all this junk they are buying them. I say junk because that it what it is. stuff that their kids ay only use one time. or buying cars, or motorcycles, for their teenagers who in turn will abuse these items, knowing mama and daddy have the money (and no brains)to fix them or replace them anytime they want to. Then come time for the creditcard bills to show up and in turn a pink slip shows up with the last check, the only way to get the money to pay these bills is to collect the life insurence. How many of the suicides will be because of these stupid acts.

In order to collect life insurance benefits, suicide must be ruled out and that is difficult to do because if there's even the slightest suggestion of a whiff of the faintest possibility of suicide, the insurance company will stonewall and never pay!

Having said that, the desperate mind will grasp at any and all available straws.

The downside of rampant consumerism!

Yes I know, but for some reason this thing happens and seems to be more prevelent during this time of the year, or is it just because of it being this time of year that it seems that way. On the other hand maybe the people have been planning it for long enough they decide to buy all they can knowing they wont be around to pay for it.

Clearly, you've never had to deal with probate first hand! Death doesn't free your estate from paying , it simply obligates your heirs!

Seasonal depression is a well-recognized if poorly understood syndrome, and holiday seasons which "obligate" us to spend, spend, spend, or be considered 'less than American' only aggravate the situation!

Yes, I am aware and have known this for a long time Insurence does not pay for suicide. unfortunitly, Insurence or not, alot of people commit suicide during this time of year because they have decided there is no hope. WHY? This is not limited to poor, or elderly or even to people with cancers, it is going on with our young people kids still in highschool, hell even in middle school and gradeschool. Is it because they get less sun this time of year, what has made them give up all hope.

Less sunlight (circadian-rhythm effect) is one hypothesis that is under study, but the truth of the matter is that it ain't sexy, nor (sadly, but more importantly) profitable enough for a truly concerted study.

Societal pressures (keeping up with the Joneses), more work (if any) for less compensation (unless you're a major CEO), all adds up! I very much doubt that there is any one single answer beyond overweening wants beating our spirits to death!

Don't think I haven't been tempted!

I was in a local store the other day and one of the T-shirts they had for sale said: "Where's my share of the stimulus?" on it!

Not for nothing, but less than a third of the monies thus far set aside for the stimulus have actually left the treasury yet (still a serious chunk of change, however).
