The following was briefly on Pat Robertson's CBN website, but has since been removed. It was, however, also published on the Charisma Magazine website:

"http://www.charismamag.com/index.php/prophetic-insight/23723-the-danger-of-celebrating-halloween?showall=1"
quote:
The word "holiday" means "holy day." But there is nothing holy about Halloween. The root word of Halloween is "hallow," which means "holy, consecrated and set apart for service." If this holiday is hallowed, whose service is it set apart for? The answer to that question is very easy — Lucifer's!

Lucifer is a part of the demonic godhead. Remember, everything God has, the devil has a counterfeit. Halloween is a counterfeit holy day that is dedicated to celebrating the demonic trinity of: the Luciferian Spirit (the false father); the Antichrist Spirit (the false holy spirit); and the Spirit of Belial (the false son).

The key word in discussing Halloween is "dedicated." It is dedicated to darkness and is an accursed season. During Halloween, time-released curses are always loosed. A time-released curse is a period that has been set aside to release demonic activity and to ensnare souls in great measure.

You may ask, "Doesn't God have more power than the devil?" Yes, but He has given that power to us. If we do not walk in it, we will become the devil's prey. Witchcraft works through dirty hearts and wrong spirits.

During this period demons are assigned against those who participate in the rituals and festivities. These demons are automatically drawn to the fetishes that open doors for them to come into the lives of human beings. For example, most of the candy sold during this season has been dedicated and prayed over by witches.

I do not buy candy during the Halloween season. Curses are sent through the tricks and treats of the innocent whether they get it by going door to door or by purchasing it from the local grocery store. The demons cannot tell the difference... [Oh My God, Billy! Don't eat that Milky Way bar! It's got DEMONS in it!]

Decorating buildings with Halloween scenes, dressing up for parties, going door-to-door for candy, standing around bonfires and highlighting pumpkin patches are all acts rooted in entertaining familiar spirits. All these activities are demonic and have occult roots.

The word "occult" means "secret." The danger of Halloween is not in the scary things we see but in the secret, wicked, cruel activities that go on behind the scenes. These activities include:

* Sex with demons
* Orgies between animals and humans
* Animal and human sacrifices
* Sacrificing babies to shed innocent blood
* Rape and molestation of adults, children and babies
* Revel nights
* Conjuring of demons and casting of spells
* Release of "time-released" curses against the innocent and the ignorant.

Another abomination that goes on behind the scenes of Halloween is necromancy, or communication with the dead. Séances and contacting spirit guides are very popular on Halloween, so there is a lot of darkness lurking in the air.

There is no doubt in my heart that God is not calling us to replace fall festivals and Halloween activities; rather, He wants us to utterly destroy the deeds of this season. If you or your family members have opened the door to any curses that are released during the demonic fall festivals, renounce them and repent. I already have.
So when that little kid from next door wearing a GI Joe costume rings your doorbell and says "Trick or treat", don't give him a piece of candy - burn him at the stake for being infested by demons! Wink

I heard an interesting tidbit this morning. (Yes, it was on NPR; sue me.) This Irish fella was saying that they have bonfires in his country on Halloween. He said the word, bonfire, was actually for bone-fire because in ancient times in his isle they burned the bones of animals to appease spirits. In-terr-estin', eh?

He also talked about their trick or treat tradition. Traditionally, in Ireland kids who dress up and go door to door were expected to dance for their treats. Also interestin', eh?

By the 800s, the influence of Christianity had spread into Celtic lands. In the seventh century, Pope Boniface IV designated November 1 All Saints' Day, a time to honor saints and martyrs. It is widely believed today that the pope was attempting to replace the Celtic festival of the dead with a related, but church-sanctioned holiday. The celebration was also called All-hallows or All-hallowmas (from Middle English Alholowmesse meaning All Saints' Day) and the night before it, the night of Samhain, began to be called All-hallows Eve and, eventually, Halloween. Even later, in A.D. 1000, the church would make November 2 All Souls' Day, a day to honor the dead. It was celebrated similarly to Samhain, with big bonfires, parades, and dressing up in costumes as saints, angels, and devils. Together, the three celebrations, the eve of All Saints', All Saints', and All Souls', were called Hallowmas.

Pat Robertson's

He simply believes in all these ancient superstitions. He and a bunch of big eyed adolescents.
It's my favorite time of year, regardless of its origin or believability. I have participate in the NYC Halloween Parade on two occasions, what a hoot!
And right here in the middle of an evangelical University district we have a huge Halloween event for the wide eyed kids and their "expensive" costumes, we expect over 1,000 kids to flood the street and I’m ready for them with a haunted hall 60 feet long they have to go down in the dark to get their treat.... it scares the “hell” out ‘em!
Hallmark and candy companies invented these events! That includes Christmas and the rest of the so-call religious days off.

I spent several years of my Naval career living in Virginia Beach, where Robertson has his headquarters. He was the butt of a lot of jokes(and rightly so) even before he was anything more than a regional figure. My wife and daughter and I used to even watch a bit of his show occasionally just for laughs. He has always spouted looney drivel like this, and much worse, and it always amazed me that anyone took him seriously. I think he has finally reached the point where not very many people do.

This article seems to be an excellent illustration of why Paul said:
34women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. 35If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.1 Corinthians 14:34-35

Do the candy companies actually have a job description for “witch?” Do they announce vacancies on CareerBuilder or HotJobs? What is the pay & benefits package like? Are brooms provided, or does one need to supply their own? (I think my ex must have spilled oil or something on her broom. She was always flying off the handle!)

Not just any old demon will. You may be thinking of a sucubus. They(plural sucubi)
were what people in the medieval period blamed wet dreams on. They still haunt Navy ships on long cruises. Wink The male version is an incubus.

You've heard of Lilith, right? First wife of Adam? She's the succubus.
