I believe it was from RTC San Diego CA of a stained glass window, maybe in the chapel of Christ standing behind a seaman with a hand on his shoulder in what looks like heavy seas at the ships wheel. Any help appreciated!

Hello Chrissum ... I saw your post and think it rang a "bell". I did much Bing and Google , and I think this might be it :

"Christ our Pilot" by Warner Sallman. Google it and bunches of things come up. Different art stores and a couple of e-bay listings and one that looks almost like a "baseball" type card.

We are not permitted to give "hot-links" anymore unless it is a .mil or .gov but try this site - (after removing the quotation marks)

"http://www.christcenteredmall.com/stores/art/sallman/christ-our-pilot.htm"

You might not know, but RTC S.D. was shut down. I don't know what happened to the Chapel or it's stained glass windows. Maybe/possibly you can contact the Navy Chaplain assigned to MCRD/S.D. (which was just across the ditch from the Navy side)---> { I had Chow Hall duty there while they were remodeling an old one of ours which had been made with chicken wire, 2x4s, and used shingles, before there were even automobiles... Wink }

Maybe (Hopefully) some Historical Preservation Society group has the windows...?

It invites a caption, Bill. What would you give it?

You may have your Port and Starboard confused, it appears to me he is pointing to the Strbd. btw with those wind driven waves in the back ground, I'd say Jesus is using a very thick gel on his hair.
The Caucasian Jesus looks a great deal like Swedish actor Max von Sydow, who played Jesus in the film “The Greatest Story Ever Told” in 1965. He once said something to the effect that once you play Jesus you are type cast for ever and your film career is over. It wasn’t true for him, however. Jesus, however, is very type cast.

I NEVER get Port and Starboard confused, but as to the picture, you're probably right as to his eyes, but his finger seems a bit ambiguous!

BUT! In actuality, my usage of "port" in this instance had little to do with direction! Wink

"Is that a scroll you've got in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me?"

Too much?

Hey, no, not at all. Very funny. I had one: "Look over there, a ship with rainbow flags, let's check that one out, looks like fun!"
