Hello All,

I know this is new... The Post 9/11 GI bill! And its transferbility to the children. The way I read the bill, is that in order for me to let the kids use it. I have to have allready served 10 years active duty, before they are able to use the bill. I can sign them up after 6 years of active duty, and enlist for another 4 years.

So with me just signing up, and my kids being in JR. High, If I chose to try to let them use it, they wouldn't be able to use these benefits (granted they complete a bach right out of high school). Is this right? Or can they use them after the 6 years of active duty, if I enlist for 4 more?

Thanks,

Aaron

you must have ten years TIS before the kids can use it. only the SPOUSE is able to use it after 6 years with the stipulation that you re up for another 4.
