My husband is leaving soon for basic and AIT thru ARNG. I was wondering if anyone knows once he leaves how long it usally takes for him to start receiving pay. He has received drill pay for the last few months so I know he is in the pay system. Just wasnt sure if it changes once he enters basic. Thanks for the help.

it could take 6 to 8 weeks-if he is recieving drill pay he is in the Reserve Component pay system. I do not know at this moment-although i will find out and post again-if they have to be moved to the Active Component pay system for Basic and AIT-they did when my husband went but that was so long ago that Moses was his Drill Sergeant. I do know that soldiers who are mobilizing are not moved to the AC paysystem-there AD is paid thru the RC pay system. If this is true you will not see a break in pay-he will be getting paid for his active duty as soon as his orders start.

Thank you for the help. I keep hearing two different things so I wasn't sure how it worked. I just want to be prepared as much as possible when it comes to keeping the bills paid!

Like orchidj5 said, the longest part is getting into the pay system.

I'd also suggest him taking the documentation with him to BCT for BAH purposes. Your ID can be done now.
