someone from my military husbands past has been heard through the grapevine to be trying to attain benefits from Operation Homefront, Military One Source and other organizations that assist families of deployed military personal. she is claiming to be his wife and the mother of his children. i'm just a little confused how she can do this without proof, unless fraudulent. any advice ?
Well, considering that family are required to be registered in DEERS to claim benefits, I wouldn't be too concerned. Unless, of course this person is attempting to actually steal the identity of someone who is registered, in which case the typical proactive privacy precautions would be prudent. (Heck, they're prudent regardless.)
While it is talk he might want to run a credit check on himself just to make sure everything is alright. Rumors do spread like wildfire sometimes and often can start out one way and then turn into 20 others. As I have said before you can hear about 20 guys cheating on their spouses but in actuality it was one guy taking his sister/mother/female friend out for dinner.
good advice. we will get on that. i'm new to this army life and this is our first deployment. the woman has been stirring a lot of drama at his unit. the discrepencies my husband and her have had in the past she outs to the unit by calling repeatedly. to say the least, this woman has been quite a thorn in our backside. like i said, i'm new to this and so far learning how to cope is a process enough on its own. i was concerned that this woman may claim to be me or just state she is married to my husband and utilize benefits or resources i may need in the future. ugh ! thanks again for the great advice.
