Here's my situation.

I was enlisted Air Force from 1995-99, and got full G.I. Bill benefits. I separated in 1999 and was a civilian for 7 years. During this time I completed my Bachelors (which my civilian company paid for) and my Masters (which the MGIB paid for).

I came back on AD as an officer in 2006. I want a 2nd Masters degree, but have already been told by my education office that Air Force Tuition Assistance will not pay for a 2nd Masters.

Because I already used the GI Bill am I eligible for any of the new post-9/11 benefits for service since I came back on AD?

You should be eligible for an additional 12 months of education benefits - max. is 48 months for any combination of education benefits so if you used your 36 and you have served on active duty after 10 Sept 01, you should qualify. If you served less than 36 months after 10 Sept 01 - you would only receive a percentage.

Now - before you rush out and apply - check with VA to confirm you exhausted all 36 months - if you only used 35 months and some days and apply for the Post 9/11 GI Bill - they will only approve you for the number of days remaining to fulfill your 36 months which have been extended by you returning to active duty in 2006.

Then, if you have no remaining benefits (exhausted all 36 months), apply for the Post 9/11 GI Bill.

If you have remaining entitlements under the MGIB, you may use them first untill that benefit is exhausted and then apply for the Post 9/11 GI Bill.
