Designations such as "Basic Training" and "Member" are simply colorful ways of showing who is new to the forum and who has made many posts to become experienced in forum use. Everyone starts at Basic Training with their first post. All you have to do to increase in title, is post useful messages that reflect the Terms of Service.
Mr. Gates can you find the post you had either here or at VAJoe about getting college credit for the EMI courses? I know it involved Thomas Edison State but other than that I lost it...
