I live in WA and was curious about what the State Guard is and what other civilian jobs there might be available to work in the U.S. or overseas. Can someone contact me please?
A State Guard is not civilian,It is a state military force opering under authority of the state governemt and is under the auspice of the states military department (national guard). A State Guard member is a Soldier in the military service of the state.
I drill with the Washington State Guard. We serve along side the Washington National Guard and Washington Air Guard and support specific missions.
The main and plain function of most are as liaison officers in Emergency Operations Centers statewide during declared emergencies (of which we have many: wildfires, floods, windstorms, etc.).
I can answer specific questions not addressed here:
My apologies for the delay. I'm rarely on these boards of late. WSG? No contracts. You can essentially resign at any time, provided you aren't on State Active Duty. --K.
