I don't see the 6th as a date on the IRS site Grover, it jumps from the 2nd to the 9th (which is my SSN ending number slot). Was that a typo?

If TurboTax's Santa Barbara Bank handled your money in any way -- such as taking your refund, or paying your filing fees -- then TurboTax says you will not get a Direct Deposit. You will have to wait for a paper check.

Only if their bank was involved in the process Donald. I paid taxes so I a week or so to go.

Greetings and special blessings to one and all.

Donald, the dates you see are the end dates for that group of numbers. There was not a typo.

Heads Up, I received my rebate direct deposit this morning, just as the IRS said I would. The amount was $600.00, $300.00 for each of us.

Some keep talking about going through Santa Barbara Bank if you used Turbo Tax and this would keep you from getting a direct deposit. Sorry, it did not affect my rebate at all. I have no idea how TT did mine.

May God richly bless and keep each of you.

In His Service,

Grover

Donald, since you did not file your tax return until 15 April, you may not be in this first group. Also, it is my understanding that if you did not get a refund by direct deposit, then you will have to wait for a check by mail. Doing a payment from your bank account will not get you a rebate by direct deposit, I guess time will tell.

Please let us know.

Wow, interesting thoughts there. I actually filed electonically back in February, but with Turbo Tax you choose the date for the IRS to take their money, what the hell, I don't get a bonus for letting them take it early, so the WITHDRAWAL was 15 April.
The way I read it was that IF the IRS has your bank account information on file, you get a direct deposit. Friday should tell us something I guess.

Both of my sons filed using Turbo Tax and had there refunds go thru Santa Barbara, Now when we go to the link that Grover listed they say the info is not available. By the schedule they have listed one son should get his on the 9th and the other on the 16th, of course if they have to wait on a check it will be different. As for me it doesn't matter, since I still owe for 2006 and they will just take my rebate to pay on that. Sgt D

Donald,

I just went to the IRS website and found this:

"Q. If I'm not expecting a refund, should I still fill out the direct deposit line on my return so I can get my stimulus payment directly deposited?

A. Yes. Even if you aren't due a refund on your tax return, filling out the bank routing information will allow for your stimulus payment to be directly deposited."

Sounds like if you put the bank routing number and your account number on your tax return then you should get a direct deposit. However, you should be in the system if you are to receive one by 9 May. I do not know what you have to provide when you have the IRS take a payment from your account. If your bank information does not go on your tax Form, then that may be what the difference is.

Yeah, that was my point. You have to give the IRS your bank account and routing numbers so they can help themselves, so there is no reason why they would not put it back there.

I agree that should occur. I did the same back in Feb and set it up for IRS to take the tax due on 15 April. I won't be getting a "rebate", but I am satisfied that some will get it, especially those who receive only social security or a paltry VA pension. Some is better than none.

Violin Angry Whip Mad Well, nothing showed up yet for me. My brother however got his today ($1800.00), same basic situation as mine. I won't give up til midnight postings are done at USAA. They probably had a huge pile of them.

How much were you expecting? Do you have any ide why it didn't arrive in the bank yesterday?

You know, I still haven't got that VA back pay we discussed some time back. It's odd that I know there is pay due to me but I don't even pursue it. Since I'm not getting a rebate I guess I should add the back pay to my project list and start the trek down that road and similar to your rebate issue it is going to be like the "yellow brick road".

If we could get our hands on the the OZ and shake that money loose you'll get your rebate and I'll get my back pay.

Donald, as I stated, since you did not provide your bank information and get a refund, but instead had to pay income tax, you will get your rebate in a check.

Grover

I recall in an earlier post by "Donald" he wrote that he did provide his bank info. He had to do it so his payment for taxes due would be debited on 15 April.

One must provide to the IRS the same info for debiting your account as you do for crediting your account. I owed an additional amount above what was taken out during the year. IRS needed my bank routing and checking account number to debit that account.

My understanding is that if you owed taxes, you will get a check.

Turbo Tax said I would get $958, the same as what my tax was. I filed in Feb, let them take the money out of my bank account on 15 Apr, sorta assumed since they had my bank account info, I would get a direct deposit, should have been on the 9th according their website. They are a little vague on cases like mine.
