The following information is courtesy the Detroit Free Press, which has listed the information very succinctly. Here’s how the checks will roll out:
If you file your return on time and request that your federal income tax refund is directly deposited, the stimulus payments will directly go into your bank account by May 2 if the last two digits of your Social Security number are 00-20. If the last two digits are 21-75, the date to remember is May 9. If the last two digits are 76-99, you’d get that money by May 16. But if you do not use direct deposit to get your federal income tax refund – or you are paying taxes owed when you file that 2007 return – you’re going to get your tax rebate check later. The rollout times are more complicated, too. If your last two digits of your Social Security number are 00-09, you could expect that rebate check to be mailed by May 16. It’s by May 23 if the last two digits are 10-18. It’s May 30 if the digits are 19-25. It’s June 6 if the digits are 26-38. It’s June 13 if the digits are 39-51. It’s June 20 if the digits are 52-63. It’s June 27 if the digits are 64-75. It’s July 4 if the digits are 76-87. It’s by July 11 if the digits are 88 -99 and the person did not use direct deposit of a refund this year – or if you wrote a check to cover money owed for the 2007 tax year. Note: an email going around for several weeks gave the dates in an August - October range. The email was incorrect. Monday 3/10/08 UPDATE: Who won't recevie a check? We've heard so much about the upcoming tax rebate checks....which for most taxpayers will mean an $300, $600, or $1,200. But what about all the people who won't get a rebate? That's right: Millions of Americans won't qualify for a rebate check. So a quick look at who won't qualify for the upcoming government gift. You won't get a check if.... Most taxpayers earning less than $3,000 a year won't get a check. Nor will people who earn more than $85,000 a year....or $174,000 as a couple. There's no rebate for most 18 - 20 year old college students still claimed as dependents by Mom and Dad. And people on SSI (Supplemental Security Income) disability don't qualify. However, here's the tricky and confusing part: Seniors who receive at least $3,000 in Social Security benefits will receive a check. Also, people on SSDI (Social Security Disability Payments) will receive a check, as they worked long enough to qualify for Social Security. Still confused? Check the irs website, irs.gov ...Or call the IRS for more specific information. |

Apparently you cannot get more than you pay in taxes. I just finished my return, my tax liability was $958 for the year, guess what, my rebate is exactly $958 as well!
I guess I am supposed to be enthused with us sending them a check on Apr 15, then getting the same check back a month or two later. Whooope! Stimulus? Heck no, I will put it right back in savings to replace what came out on Apr 15th! I guess I am just too dumb to be president, it don't make much sense to me. NOW however, give me my retro pay, or approve some of the claims that have been laying on some desk somewhere for years, and I will spend it like a drunken sailer!! |

I had a whopping refund of $104.00 but since I have an installment plan to pay the $3000.00 I owed for 2006 they just kelp it and applied it to what I owe them, I read some where that they will do the same with this rebate, however I still have to keep paying or they will go after my other money in the bank. So no rebate for me, sure did want to take the wife to Out Back steak house but guess we will have to stay home and eat baloney sandwiches. Sgt D

Fry it. I learned that trick with one of my wives who was from South Carolina. You can fry balony and it tastes much more like the steak you did not get.

Greetings and special blessings to one and all.
Well now, Turbo Tax has told me that I will get $600.00, $300.00 for each of us. My tax for 2007 was only $47.00. I guess I will soon find out since I will have a direct deposit on May 9. May God richly bless and keep each of you. In His Service, Grover |

Grover my tax bill was much higher. I can not complain about it, I paid my share, and I made the money in 2007. I expect $1,200 for the two of us a few weeks later.

By the way, if you did not own any income tax because you had 5 children and did not make over #34,500.00 you and your wife will still get $300.00 each and $300.00 per child, for a total of $2,100.00.
As stated above in a post, you will only get more than the $300.00 each if you paid taxes of $1,200.00 or more. This is for you and your spouse. Grover |

Yes, I had tax refund sent to the checking account. The credit union may be slow posting it on Fri. It may be there on Mon. It would be nice to get it and the reto at the same time. May be to much to ask for.

Grover Since Turbo Tax uses a bank in CA then they transfer your refund to your bank, how will the rebate work, will it also go to that bank or will it go directly to your bank. Sgt D |

Important alert for H&R Block Filers:
According to H&R Block's website, if you received your tax refund on an Emerald Debit Card, your Rebate will be loaded on your Emerald card too. However, if you used a Refund Anticipation Loan or any other product from the H&R Block Bank, you will receive a paper check in the mail. Unfortunately, managers of different H&R Block offices are giving different answers, according to blogs and message boards, so it's very tough to get a simple answer. Important alert for Turbo Tax Filers: If you filed by TurboTax, you may end up in the same situation as H&R block filers (see above). If TurboTax's Santa Barbara Bank handled your money in any way -- such as taking your refund, or paying your filing fees -- then TurboTax says you will not get a Direct Deposit. You will have to wait for a paper check. |

I don't quite think that is the whole story on Turbo Tax. I filed TurboTax, and paid them the filing fees, but the IRS took their money from my bank account at 2359 hours 15 April. It is my understanding therefore I will get a direct deposit back from the IRS. We will see on the 9th I guess, that is my turn day..

As for as I can tell by what I've read at Turbo Tax web site people who use their service thru Santa Barbara then you will have to wait for a paper check to be mailed.
This is in a misleading by Turbo Tax, for most people who use their service think they are filing electronic and there rebate should go to there bank. Guess I'll just have to wait till the "checks in the mail" Sgt D |

Greetings and special blessings.
I am sorry, but unless you gave your bank account information and received a refund, your rebate payment will be by check. If you paid from your bank account, you will still receive a check for the rebate amount. Please let us know if you receive a direct deposit of your rebate. May God richly bless and keep you.
