Providing a name is nice, but of little value.
You need to provide the branch of service, service dates, units, locations, wartime service etc., Your name for example, reminded me immediately of a SP/4 Johnson I served with in Vietnam, it brought back things I had preferred to hide in the banks of my memory because he was KIA. I hope this helps you in your quest to know your father's military history.
A Veteran in Arms.
