This was posted in another site but thiought I would share:

It finally happened. About the only real befits a retiree has living near a base it Pharmacy. Oh there is the Commissary and BX. Yea right. Priced WAY too high. I’ll stick to WalMart. But we went to pick up our prescriptions at the JRB/Carswell the other day only to be asked if we had filled out some Third Party Insurance form. When I questioned this, I was told that they are going to try to recoup some of the cost by charging it to my private insurance. I told them that my private insurance is a program at my work and if could effect profitability to my company. This is why I use the base for family prescriptions.

Just another way to slowly and surly take away what we all fought for.

A veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve - is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to The 'United States of America', for an amount of 'up to and including my life.'

I don't live anywhere close to a base, but when I travel I visit them. I gave up years ago on meds from them, they have this thing that many meds are only for active duty soldiers, not allowed to be given to retirees, go buy them yourselves! I also find no advantage whatever to use of the PX or commissary, or even the on post service stations.

Oh I missed that one. The base gas station was at $2.35. Just outside the main Gate and Quick Trip (QT) was at $2.27. Less that 1/2 mile away.

And don't get me started on the Adult Beverages sales on base.

I like my wine or beer. But there are no bases near me.

Consider Express Scripts for your prescriptions. They are extremely efficient, very reasonable and carry many medications that military pharmacies do not stock, and they pay all postage, UPS and FEDEX charges. They cater to retired military and are very user friendly. I get 3 month supplies of Lantus Insulin pens for either $9 or $27 postpaid, plus Januvia for $9 (which is very expensive outside), and several other meds to keep me both happy and alive. Check their website!

I agree 100% with this post. I use Express Scripts for one item that the VA will not give me and one for my wife. The local drug store has to have $9 for a 30 day supply, at Express, you can get a 90 day supply for $9.00.

You can set it up on automatic and Express Scripts will contact your Doctor when it is time to renew. You do not have to request any refills. You can use a direct check withdraw or a credit card.

May God richly bless and keep each of you.

In His Service,

Grover

How does Express Scripts work? I am a drilling Reservist and I go to the local (Marine) base to fill my prescriptions. For some reason they don't have Januvia or the pens so I have to buy that through my insurance at work (pricey).

You can sign up through your Tricare web site for your region - just google Tricare and you will find the link to the express scripts web site - don't just google express scripts because they are a contractor that also services other insurance companies.
