I have been fighting to get reemployed with Wal-Mart in Virginia. After being cleared to go back to work from my Oncologist doctor in Richmond, VA. I wanted to go back to work for Wal-Mart, being that I have been not employed for the past 5 years, they see this as a reason not to reeployed me.
I have looked on Military.com of the companies that are Military-Friendly. Wal-Mart is not Military-Friendly from what the phone call I had with my local Wal-Mart. HR Dept. said, they have over 500 applications.
Has anyone ever had this much troouble being reeployed after a major diesease? Or just show I give up on Wal-Mart and walk away from them that I will not ever work for them again??? And just work for their competator?

The right to reemployment is based on military service. If you have to leave a job for active duty in the reserves or guard, then you are entitled to return to your job by law.

Thanks, would something like ADA cover what I am trying to do? Because I left Wal-Mart Corp. while going through cancer treatment, should I check out ADA for legal help? Because ADA also includes cancer as a disability. Would that get me anywhere or just burn the birdge that I am trying to cross?

This is what the Introduction says in the cancer section:
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a federal law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities. Title I of the ADA covers employment by private employers with 15 or more employees as well as state and local government employers. The Rehabilitation Act provides the same protections related to federal employment. In addition, most states have their own laws prohibiting employment discrimination on the basis of disability. Some of these state laws apply to smaller employers and may provide protections in addition to those available under the ADA.[1]

You are protected when hired, but if you quit, versus take a leave of absence, there is not protection. They should afford you the same priorities as any other previous employee, based on performance.

jonmus38, you asked almost the same question five days ago on this forum.
Please do not open a new thread everytime you have a new question. Just keep the old one alive.

Please do stick around these boards and keep us posted.

As I said on the other thread, "We wish you the very best of everything."

Ok, I won't make 2 different post.

Anyways, this Tuesday, I am going back to work for another company. I have tried to get back working for Sam's Club/WalMart, but some reason their HR Dept don't want to call. So I have been hired by Target. It is a seasonal job, but it could turn into a long term by chance. It will give me new life blood on my resume to put down that companies will see that I have worked in the past 5 years. I feel good about going back to work Tuesday. Tuesday is the oranatation day, might be doing paper work. I am going to bring me a note pad, more to write questions down.
Well, this year, I went from 1 interview in 5 years, to my 1st job in 5 years. Sweet deal.
