I have been tring to get reemployment after I have fought 5 years of cancer. Well, the funny thing is, with having 5 years not working, it leaves a employer wondering why I have not worked in the past 5 years. So I say, I moved. So that is a lie on the employement application, if I say cancer, then they will not even hire because they think that I will have to have alot of time off for cancer or a CT Scan.
The company that I worked for, will not hire me back. What do I do?
Now what do I do?
How do I get reemployed?

I have applied at a Temp comany to get me back working. But there is that 5 year gap I have becuase of cancer.

You took 5 years off to deal with family issues that have been resolved. As the law does not permit them to ask, that should be enough. They can not ask about health or deny employment because of health issues because of ADA. If you think that is the case then there are Federal agencies that will help you deal with this issue.

Our hearts go out to you in both the cancer and the employment.

If you could tell us a little more about your job qualifications, education, age and state you live in someone might be able to come up with some leads or suggestions that might be of help to you.

Let me quickly say, I would never recommend anyone lie on any application for any reason. It is such an automatic reason for firing.

I have several friends who had cancer had no problems with employment. Right now there are dozens of "fully qualified applicants" for every opening - it is mind blogging.

We wish you the very best of everything,

Bruce

Thank you for responding.
When I do say why I haven't worked, is that I moved to Virginia from Florida and have not found work. Where I do not say cancer.
Five years ago, I was working for Sam's Club installing tires and batteries. In Virginia, you don't have as many Sam's Club. Then I have thought of going back into what I did in the past, running machines or light assemble at a locat GM powertrain plant, but only thing about GM, the plant is closing next June. So GM, I would be back in the same boat and back looking for another job.
Education in 2003 Automotive service, basic training in automotive service, have done more service (oil changes).
Thanks Jon
