I'm considering joining, but I have a few questions first:

1. Does this interfere with school?

2. Do they give you a haircut that you have to have? :P

3. About how much does the program cost?

4. About how long are the summer encampments

5. Are there encampments outside of the summer?

CAP does not interfere with school, per se, however you will have assignments and activities that you will need to do off-hours and on weekends.

CAP units don't generally give you a haircut, however you will need to adhere to grooming standards which are similar to the USAF.

Cost depends on your state this chart tells you how much initial membership is by state:

Which will include most of your blue short sleeve uniform. There will be uniform parts you need to get yourself, and the unit you join may have dues as well. Most activities are self-funded by the participants.

Encampments run anywhere from 2-weekends to 2-weeks, depending on where you attend. There are encampments and similar activities year round.

To join I would suggest finding a unit in your area and contacting the commander for a visit, and to discuss their operations.
