Well, I went to my first 'official' meeting last night. It wasn't quite what I expected, but I didn't really know what to expect. I was wondering if anybody could point me to a free resource that lays out drill and stuff like that. The Lieutenant said that when I become a member after the third meeting, they give me all the stuff, but I hate being ill-prepared...

If you go on the internet to gocivilairpatrol and set up an account on eservices you can log on as a member. You can then look for a regulation manual CAPR39-1 which is the manual for how to wear the uniform. To learn about marching you can find internet resources for "Close Order Drill". It will take some time but it will help you to pay attention to the people who are working to instruct you. It is important to learn how to become a good follower which will help you when as time goes on you learn to become a leader.

Thanks! Apparently they've gotten a wave of new cadets so they have a specific group for new people. It's great because most of them have only been going for a week or so and from what I gathered I'm the oldest. It's kind of irritating as well because a handful don't listen at all, but there were some new cadets who had a clue and I was able to gain info. from them. The main reason I was interested in CAP to begin with was because I'm looking into ROTC options for college particularly Air Force.

If he's not a member, he won't be able to set up an e-services account.

However, all of CAP's regulations are available on the public web site. Go the the main web site and select the "Forms and Publications" link on the left side. You will find the 39-1 manual there.

Another good resource would be to google the Air Force drill and ceremonies manual. This is almost always referred to when someone is unsure of something. Since CAP trains to be like the AF, they follow a few AF regulations. DNC is one of them.
