Hi there everyone. I am joining the CG Aux, and feel that I will be too busy to be in both. How do I go about resigning from CAP, or do I just keep my membership and not attend stuff? Thanks!

Non participation is grounds for a 2B, or least is used to be. Dont get one, if you ever wanted to rejoin, you would have to jump thru some serious hoops. Im sure there is a resignation process. Congrats on your choice, been a member of the USCG Aux for over 5 years now. Dont let the "Debbie Downers" on the aux board get to ya, make the best of it and thank you for serving.

The easiest way to "resign" from CAP is to just stop going...eventually your membership will expire.

The "proper" way to resign is to give your membership card to your squadron commander...who would then do a 2b on you.

But as LRSDRANGER said...that would make rejoining at a later date harder.

It has been a very long time since I did any CAP paperwork, but I am almost positive that the 2(b) form has an option for "Member Request" which does not carry any negative connotaion if the member later seeks to rejoin.

Welcome to the CG Auxiliary.

Actually it says "Voluntary Resignation" and is an option for both seniors and cadets.

And whether or not it has long term implications depends on if/how national flags the account. I don't know all the ins and outs about that system.

I think ultimately they'd just be happy to have another dues paying member.

A 2b is only held against you if you are involuntarily terminated for cause. If you expire or volunteer to resign, no harm done.
