I've been out for 2 and a half years and I want to re-enlist. The problem is I need a waiver to re-enter. How do I go about getting that waiver.

If you really want a waiver:
+ DD Form 370 Request for Reference: you can pull it up online, or get it at your recruiter. Get as many people to fill them out as you can. Employer, family, friends, pastor, military friends, police friends, neighbors, places you volunteer for. They say you only need 5 or 6, get 20.

+ Police Record checks: The recuiter will get your records checked, but if you want to build a good packet for the waiver, do it yourself. Get local police, State Police. And if you want, get a driving record too. I even got my juvenile records, and a Transportation Secruity Administration check from Homeland Security.

+ Current physical: You don't need one, but I wanted to show I have nothing to hide. I put it all out there.

+ Cover Letter: I told why and how I got out of the Army, and why I want to reenlist and why the Army should consider taking me. I had an attorney help me with my cover letter. I am not the most articulate person.

+ Military Records: all your military records. all your awards, achievements, medals, schools, commendations.

+ I also included: 7 year work history. 7 year place of residence. and family information.

I got all the available information that is out there, on myself. I needed to show I was serious; that I had nothing to hide; that I am good to go; I will do whatever it takes. Make your packet presentable. Don't just get a pile of papers together. Don't walk into the recruiters with your d*ck hanging out.
