Heres the question...I am a SSG, DA selected for recruiting, like anyone who cares about their career I have been doing alot of research and reading and so far the only thing I can find is how much recruting sucks, how long the hours are, how the station commanders and 1sgs dont give a crap about the recruiters and how other recruiters will stab you in the back when you arent looking. Now the only question in my mind is why the fu*k would anyone want to do this job?....just doesnt seem like my type of place...I am at Ft Bragg, where soldiers look out for each other, leadership cares about their soldiers and their familys, and a good bond exisits between soldiers... I was getting my SFAS stuff together before I came down on orders and would like some input... How long after I get to the assignment can I go to SFAS? Or should I try to defer my report date to attend? I mean if my station commander already thinks his recruiters are POS's then who cares if I **** them off right off the bat right? Sorry if someone take offense to this but I just feel I am better utilized in some other place, plus I have read stories of guys putting in 100 hour weeks adn still getting cursed out by the SC, getting threatened with a relief for cause, demotion, art 15, and all this other stuff, I am a person that gives it straight and dont have a problem telling anyone to fu*k off regardless of rank, now in the units I have been in my frankness has been appreciated and my willingness to put my ass out on a limb for soldiers has taken me far, .....I feel like I will be a round peg in a square hole in USAEREC....

no da selectee wants to be a recruiter... that's why they have to select people. you should know also that once you are selected for recruiting duty, everything else goes to the back burner.

the only way out of it is to show financial difficulty. i don't know what else to do. if i had other advice, i'd offer it

Same thing happened to me. My SFAS date disappeared. You can't defer your report date to school. You can't get around, they have you hooked. My old squadleader failed his mental eval though, and guess what, he's at f'ing RIP right now.

Not probably gonna be any help to you but I am a recrutier in Kansas I am in what they call a LP station. My SC is a awesome guy. If there is something I want to go do as long as I have met my requirements for the day I can go or come back and finish depending on the time of day. Yes it does suck and there are long hours!!!! And the SC you metioned there are alot of them out there as well. It all depends on where you go. My Company, Station have made mission alot and life is pretty good. If you have anymore questions call me 1-877-430-3875

Keep praying that the economy stays in the toilet for your sake. Actually, with a 10% unemployment rate, you may actually be able to make mission without having to spend 6 hours a day cold-calling high schoolers.

I can't give you any advice. You're going to find yourself in plenty of situations where you will have to chose between right and wrong, just make sure to think everything out carefully.
