I was wondering -- since the CG doesn't have NFO's like the Navy, is there an official "navigator" position on the C-130's? I know in the Marine's older C-130's they actually have an enlisted aerial navigator position which has its own MOS and merits their own specific set of wings. Is there something similar on Coast Guard C-130's?

The H model C-130's had enlisted Nav's for yrs... The new J models do not. The pilots handle all nav duties in addition they handle most of the Engineer duties as well so that position was lost to the J model also.

What is the training process/pipeline for becoming an enlisted navigator?

1. Become an AET

2. Get stationed at a C130 unit.

3. Complete the C130 Radio Operator Syllabus

4. Start the Nav syllabus.

5. Attend C130 Nav school at ATTC Elizabeth City, NC.

A simple list. Missing are all the steps to switch over from Navy Reserve, etc. Contact a CG recruiter!

Good luck!
