I am currently on Army Infantry O-2, ETS in about 2 years, looking at my options.

I have no aviation background, but I have passed an Army Flight Physical.

Are there any courses of action that could put me in a position to fly Rotor Wing aircraft for the CG?

Or have I simply missed my shot??

Thanks

I should add that this is more of a desire vs opportunity. I want to be involved with the SAR community and mission, and the Infantry just isn't the place for that!

How old are you? If you aren't too old, I think under 29.5, and have your degree, you can apply for OCS and flight school from there.

Good luck.

I'll be 29 when I can get out, so it could work out, might cut it close, though. I'm currently deployed right now, but as soon as I get stateside I'm going to start looking at it more in depth.

Is my Active Duty Army time not deductible for an age waiver? I know it is with some DoD service transfers in particular situations.

If he is an O-2 is OCS an option? Probably easier to go Army flight .

It is absolutely easier to revert to warrant officer and go through Army flight training but if he wants CG training OCS is possible even if he was a prior service officer. I know at least two pilots who were commissioned officers in other services, could not get into the Direct Commission Aviator program and went the OCS route instead.

Sharky, as far as active duty time goes, I don't think that deduction applies to any flight school programs. The Army accepts people into flight training in their mid 30s.
