There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch

It's a little surprising that you got in to start with. Did you need waivers just to join?

The accession standards changed a few years ago. They allow retained hardware as long as it is not in an area easily injured and there is no loss of function or deformity as a result. If these condiditons are met then no waiver is required for aviation duty.

Not sure where you are stationed, or how long you are out of boot camp, but soon you will be applying to an "A" school. Part of that process for Aviation Ratings is to get a Flight Physical, and do the application for a Secret Clearance.
The Flight Surgeon is your best source of information to start, after a good read through the current Aviation Physiology Manual the CG is using. Remember, if the Flight Surgeon states that your condition warrants a waiver, that waiver and Physical are not "official" until approved at HQ.
Good luck!

I got a waiver for plates and screws in my wrist and I'm in aviation. Depending on the severity of the repair, there shouldn't be an issue.
