Recently I have heard several rumors regarding the "A" school classes for AMT/AET's. From most, I am hearing that many classes are being cancelled and that there is potential for a stop in FY2010. To anyone in the aviation field, preferably ATTC, do you know any gouge regarding these rumors? Any info is greatly appriciated.
Not sure where you are getting your rumors but as is normally the case, they are far from true. The best place to verify the info would be one of the aviation RFMC or the Airman detailer at EPM; Your Chief could contact one them to get the answer. It just so happens I have firsthand info however so here is the whole story. Due to the state of the economy we are experiencing high retention in the CG and since many of the ratings are at full strength, some of the A schools had to reduce the number of classes that were originally scheduled or cut back the number of students in each class. In the case of aviation, AMT school has canceled two planned convening and reduced the number of total students for 2010. They are still open for business however and airmen are still receiving orders. There was no change to the schedule for AET or AST although the total number of students is less than last year. This is only because aviation is not growing like it has in recent years.
i have heard that the cancled two classes that they pulled orders from people that were in the airman program and when they start back up it will be janurary at the earliest and probably march. this was from someone that has a bit of knowledge and when it starts back up they will go from 20 to 10 in a class. so you should look at waiting a good while like a lot of people have. i am at the point i cant wait any longer jsut because of my family.
If the CG had a nickel for every time a false rumor floated thru the service, we would all be independently wealthy! Our cuttters would be gold plated. Our aircraft would all fly themselves.
Wanna know if something is true? If it starts with the phrase "I heard a rumor..." Then the safe money is on it being false.
Some people just have too much free time on their hands.

Peaks and valleys, ebb and flow, RIFF and E-3 to E-6 in one "tour" (yes it did happen here), buy low and sell high, winter spring summer fall, as the world turns, don't bet on anything going the way you plan it because plans change and you aren't making the plans, hope for the best, plan for the worse, guy who writes the #1 test gets RIFF'd out (saw that too), it's all cyclical, etc, etc....
