Well, with all due respect, what was your ASVAB score? You claim to have qualified for AET and AMT but I'm having a hard time believing so. Maybe it is just the "internet language" you have adapted, but from reading all of your posts and seeing the multiple SIMPLE mistakes and questions such as "problems with the planes" it really makes me believe you have not qualified for either of those two ratings, as of now.

But, on the flip side, I am only awaiting my scores from my first testing so I have no idea how well I will do and you very well may have qualified for both of them. Sorry if this is too invasive or disrespectful but I have an extremely high level of respect for our service men and what they do. And when I find people posing to be one, or pretending to be overly qualified it really bothers me. I'm hoping I am wrong on this, really. But would you want the person responsible for the correct functioning of your aircraft using the wrong forms of there and making extreme mistakes in simple grammar? Now, if I'm wrong I apologize. But, please just be honest here. And for future reference, the way you type on an online forum such as this where serious issues are discussed, people will judge you on how to type. HI!!!!!! MY NAME IZ RANDY HELP ME BE A PILOT I HERD ITS' FUN AND THEY ARE COOL LOLZLOLZLOLZ IM THE VALEDICTORIAN HEHE SO IM BETTER THAN YOU HEHE. <-- Big no-no. Type professionally and people will take you much more serious.

If you understand, why get upset?

I clearly stated I could be wrong.

I was just trying to inform you that the impression you are giving off isn't one of an intelligent and convincing manner. It was advice. And another word of advice, by posting in all caps and bad grammar intentionally it is a direct reflection of your maturity.

As an AET or AMT, your daily life will consist of multiple individuals stepping into an aircraft with trust that you have ensured "all systems go." That trust is with their lives.

I don't mean this as a personal attack. I'm trying to help you.

And for the record... I'm also your average teenager who likes to have fun on the weekends. When I'm with my friends I speak horribly. It comes with living in New Orleans. I'll say "ain't" 5 times in 10 sentences. I'll say "ya'll" every 2 sentences. But I wouldn't speak like that with my recruiter. A lot of people on this board are recruiters and AD coasties. All I'm saying is people will take you a lot more seriously if you type correctly.

Hello, sir how are we doing today on this precious evening. I am here to talk professionaly about this topic. I will discuss how an AMT gets their work done.
How was that Mammeli. Are you an English teacher or what. Look if you dont like my grammar i said dont join my discussion. You keep saying i am not trying to be invasive or do a personal attack. You say it because you know it is a personal attack. And i take it as personal attack. Also THANK YOU VERY MUCH ON RUINING MY DISCUSSION ABOUT HELICOPTER CRASHES IN THE COAST GUARD. HOW WOULD YOU LIKE IT IF I JOINED YOUR DISCUSSION WHEN YOU WERE TRYING TO FIND AN ANSWER AND I BEGIN TO PERSONA ATTACK YOU WHERE EVERYONE CAN READ IT.
SO GET OFF MY DISCUSSION IF YOU ARE GOING TO DO THAT SIR OR WHAT EVER YOU ARE. I HAVE NEVER MET SOMEONE LIKE YOU WHERE YOU MUST TALK PROFESSIONALY. THIS PLACE IS FOR DISCUSSIONS, A PLACE TO RELAX, NOT WORRY ABOUT SOME STUPID GRAMMAR.
THANKS
George

We'll be standing by for you to both get it out of your systems. Might want to lay off the Red Bull for a while.

As for ALL CAPS and lazy grammar or spelling; just remember, first impressions count, and the CG is a very small outfit. Your future trainers and supervisors are probably reading this.

Whereas an AFQT of 85 is okay, it is not impressive. My son got a 92 when he took the ASVAB just to take it as a soph in HS.

You have to understand that the CG is smaller and pickier than the other four services. Grammar and spelling are VERY important, especially in technical fields like AMT or AET.

And respect goes a LONG way. Believe it or not, CG HQ folks read these boards. And, as already pointed out, your future supervisors may also, too.

You seem to be in need of some growing up. Stick to your studies, finish HS, and then call your recruiter. He or she can answer many of the questions you have asked here on these forums.

Good luck!

Respect, proper attitude and first impressions do go a long way. And yes, HQ folks (and A School Instructors) do read these boards frequently. Eek Cool

JerryG offers good advice....

I do admit poor grammar can make a bad first impression if you take it at face value. However, I have seen years of very good mechanics who constantly made common errors in maintenance records. TVCJohn, Remember when TK would photo copy some of those gems and leave them taped on the bulletin board corrected and graded?

12400294,

The Coast Guard has lost both airplanes and helicopters. Some have been to mechanical failure and some to human error. As technology gets better the chances of crashing due to mechanical failure becomes less and less. We proudly maintain one of the highest safety records of the five armed forces.

Be very careful here. The recruiters do not have to let you enlist and they have no problem filling openings. Their first responsibility is to fill the positions with the best qualified candidates. If they even begin to think you're a problem child they will drop you like you're on fire.

When you post here you have to maintain a thick skin. Before you reply to or quote someone I would suggest looking at the profile of that person. Alienating yourself from certain Senior Chiefs and Master Chiefs will will only refuse you from valuable advice.

Good luck in your career

Mammelli and 12400294. You two have a lot of growing up to do. Your interest in joining the Coast Guard is welcome. Mammelli, if you get into the CG, you will come across members that might lack in certain areas. Instead of focusing on the flaw, a good leader will offer a solution to help improve in whatever area they need help in. Don't ever forget that you too might learn something from them. Your not in the CG yet, and your a long way from aviation. So far it doesn't look like your making too good of an impression, but your attention to detail will take you far.
As for 12400294, accept constructive criticism. Study up and brush up on your typing skills. Good luck on your ASVAB.

Oh yeah, 1200294, you really need to sit down with your recruiter and discuss the oppurtunities in the Coast Guard
