my father in law taught flight school there from 1941 - 1953 he was in the navy and he also taught baseball player ted williams of the boston red sox. he passed away yesterday 1-11-08 and he was 85. we are trying to find anyone or any photos someone may have that we could use for the memorial service on 1-19-08 his name was William Hiram Clem and we were told he was sent to a division called MATTS, because he was such a large man and this was at the time some new fighter jets were being delivered to the navy. He did not talk much about his Navy service. We have his flight wings and all of his log books and everything is very detailed and in perfection condition and if someone would be interested in them we would be glad to send them. If anyone could direct us on how we could find someone who may of knew him or anyone that could tell or explain how to find photos of the planes he flew. trying to put together a set of photos to go along with the song Wind Beneath my wings for the Memorial Service on 1-19-08. thank you for any information or direction that could help us. thank you Donnita clem
Dear 16847442, I will get in touch with my dad, John Driscoll who was Marine Corp naval aviator as well as a flight instructor around the same time as your father inlaw. I know my dad instructed Ted Williams and Johnny Pesky on how to hit targets towed behind planes to simulate dog fighting techniques as well as basic flight control training. If he has any info on your father inlaw I will e-mail you back. Sorry for your loss, Sincerely, Dick Driscoll

Dear 16847442, I spoke with my Dad and he believes he knows William Clem, who's dad was a doctor and the family grew up in Milton Ma and William was also a naval aviator and a flight school instructor. I would be interested to know if this is the correct William Clem. Sincerely, Dick Driscoll
I just spoke with my Dad again about Bill Clem and my dad said he played hockey with Bill at New Hampton Prep in Hampton NH and that Bill went to Brown Universtity and he had a brother went to Brown as well. His Dad was a Dentist. Bill played second wing and my Dad centered the second line. My Dad says they had a pretty good team back then. They Played Darmouth College, UNH, BU. My Dads pretty old but who knows it could be the same Bill Clem. Peace, Dick
