I am one of those who was not paid and was told over and over that i was not eligible for retro. pay but i knew better so i hope they get it right. It is not so much about the money than it is doing the right thing we must all understand the end results will be money, the system is working that's all that matters "God Bless America!!!!!!!!!
I was fornuate to be one of those who was paid VA Retro back in 2008. But I feel that this should be available to all those military retiree's that are over 20 years and get va disability should recieve crdp. oh but let me tell you it took me over 2 years to get the va retro and get my 100% unemployable. I now get my full navy retirement, and my full 100% unemployable. it takes a long time but just hang in there. the one main reason I got it was that I had an appeal in and after a exam by a doctor here in san antonio I was approved dut to the appeal.
Sorry Guys, If you have an ex-wife, she will more than likely get the funds and you will be left out in the cold. The DFAS office will not notify you of this. I know, I was one of those. That is a lot of money my ex-wife was to receive. The DFAS office did not tell me until I did a follow up status of my retro pay. I 100% disabled and unemployable. This after thirty years service. Another way to screw the Vet. Oh, by the way. My ex-wife has not received these funds as yet. They mailed the check somewhere around Jan 09 according to DFAS. So, what happen to $30,000.00?????
Apparently some in the VA Regional Office in Winston Salem NC are not aware of either CRSC or CRDP. I sent an e-mail asking about the Retro Pay. Even though I was a retiree with 20 yrs and 30%Disab., I received notification back that I could not receive my retired pay and disability nor CRSC. My application for compensation was received by the VA in Mar 2006 and a decision was rendered Nov 2007 20 months later. When I applied for CRSC through the Navy, it was approved in 3 days. I realize he VA has a monumental job, but I wonder what the training cirriculum for VSO and Raters entails. To use a word thats been bandied around a lot lately, the VA needs more VSO's with EMPATHY, i,e, Vets who are acutely aware of the obstacles their brothers are going through.
I knew it was some more errors! I am one of the ones they forgot too. In fact, I did not get the tax check last year either. I wounder if the VA will come to the front on that one too. It is really a sad story about all this, as I have been waiting since 2003, which I was retired back in 2000. Some days I prayed for the money or a letter to come...so far nothing. My wife keeps telling me that to not waste my breathe. Only if she only knew how much it means to a veteran on getting it right. It really means so much to me, but I still have some hope that one day the day the mail will come. So, until then, I'll keep sitting on my pouch watching for the mail to come. I will not dare to call the office, as it may be me out of the 39,000 that get put off to the side.
