I didn't vote for this guy, but once office I though we should give the opportunity to lead this great nation. Boy was I off the mark. You get hurt in your job, the job should pay for the injuries. In this case we served our nation and were injured and he wants us to use our private healthcare? WTF! He is a communist!!!

Obama seems to want to give funds to illegals and other countries before he takes care of our own.

IF OUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY MEANS SO LITTLE TO THE PRESIDENT AS TO TAKE AWAY ALL OUR VA RIGHTS FOR MEDICAL BENIFITS, WHATS NEXT? I CAN SEE THAT IN THE LONG RUN FEWER AND FEWER PEOPLE WILL BE WILLING TO PUT THEIR LIFE ON THE LINE FOR OUR COUNTRY. HEALTH CARE IN THIS COUNTRY IS NOT SO GREAT FOR A VERY LARGE MAJORITY OF OUR POPULATION ANYWAY. TO ME WE ARE BEING TOLD THAT WE JUST DONT MATTER. PLEASE HONOR THOSE WHO HAVE SERVERED. ARE SERVING, AND WHO MAY SERVE IN THE FUTURE.

The feds can pour out billions so that AIG execs can get paid bonuses...yet he want to put more financial burden on those that defended this country as those execs mis-managed funds...hmmm

I seem to remember a sign that used to be in almost all stores "You break it, you buy it!". Haven't seen one in quite a while though.
This also sounds like the past attempt to bill insurance companies for non-service connected disabilities. Sounded like a great idea at the time, but as I understand it, the more the VA was able to collect from insurance companies, the less it received in budgeted funds. The VA didn't save any money, but the government sure did - well, maybe they didn't. They had more to spend somewhere else. |

That's funny because they do that at the VA I work at. |

I gave up long time ago trying to convince those who want to think Obama is terrible. Usually they are programmed by FOX News or they are into that self centered mindset that got us into the current financial fiasco. You gotta believe what you gotta believe. Obama will learn and do well and save this country that Bush nearly financially ruined. But I am glad that George Bush and Dick Cheney are gone and through making enemies for the USA all over the world. I hope they are caught and tried and punished for war crimes. We didn't torture in my dad's day or in my day, as Marines. And anyone who thinks it's okay needs to be tried right along with these two evil men. I am proud of my country and my new president. I'm not African American. But I don't think that makes a difference. We finally have a president who thinks and listens to the people. That is why he chose not to listen to his advisers who had told him wrong. And went with the veterans who knew the right solution. he will listen to us. We have a voice. People can believe what they want. But in the end you will see. He will save our country from ruin. I honestly don't think anyone whose mind is made up will listen to me.
This man is humble and cares. He is not arrogant and self serving like Bush and Cheney. But some folks are just gonna hate him. Just like I've had folks hate me for just being me. That's the way life is. One thing though, hate is a funny thing. It consumes the hater much more than those that the hater hates. Siemper Fi |

You hit it right on the head with the hammer NDN60 It's a shame so many of these guys can't do any better than to bang the heck out of their thumbs.

If you are retired military and you work and have insurance through your work, Tri-Care pays a percentage of what's left after your primary insurance pays. (They usually have a big fight over who pays what.) But when you turn 65, you have to go on Medicare and pay the premium or you lose your "free for life" Tri-Care.
Of course, the government saves money because you are working and paying for private insurance. This seems like they were just trying to extend that to apply to the disabled Vets who were not retired. Tri-Care fees should not be increased! The government promised these guys "free" medical for life as a benefit for serving and now is breaking its promise even more. There are a lot of places where you can't find a doctor who will take you with only Tri-Care or Medicare and who can blame them when they lose money every time they see you? |

I love it when new members get on here and go against the interest of disabled veterans and side with a guy who wasn't in the military but who loves veterans. Right.
Charging disabled veterans for health care, especially while there are two wars being fought, is a crime as far as I'm concerned, and no political sugar coating will change it. Just like them telling us the taxpayer will make a profit by giving away billions to banks is a joke. Anyone who believes the government can make a profit for us on anything is an idiot. We're just being screwed over and over each day. |

Obama hasn't won any "points". He used a scare tactic to win favor with the vets. How may private insurance companies would be willing to pay for "existing conditions"? It's all smoke and mirrors with this bum we call a president. He's equivalent to letting a flight attendant fly the plane. Now he's going to want Americans to pay for more bailout for a company that most Americans could care less about (read as earmarks, something he said would not exist).
Hes eaten one too many happy meals, and now he's selling us down the river. |

WHY IS IT EVERY TIME THE GOVERNMENT LOOKS FOR WAYS TO CUT THE BUDGET THEY GO FOR VETRANS HEALTH CARE AND BENIFITS, I AGREE WITH THE ONE GUY WHO SAID WE PAY OUT BILLIONS TO COMPANYS THAT RAN THE ECONOMY ITNO THE RUIN AND MADE MILLIONS IN BONUSES FOR THERE INCOMPITANCE!! AND THEN YOU HAVE CONGRESS/SENATE THAT GET FREE HEALTH CARE FOR THEM AND THEIR FAMILYS FOR LIFE PLUS SOCIAL SECURITY THAT THEY DON'T PAY INTO.???
THEN THEY COME BACK AND WANT TO CUT HEALTH CARE & BENIFITS TO THE VERY PEOPLE THAT SERVED AND GAVE THERE LIVES FOR THIS COUNTRY, SO THEY( WALL STREET CONGRESS/SENATE ) CAN ENJOY THE LIFE STYLE THEY HAVE NOW. DON'T THEY RELIZE OR EVEN CARE ( WHICH I DON'T THINK THEY DO ) THATS ALL THE HEALTH CARE THAT SOME VETRANS HAVE. |

When viet nam was a done deal,,won the battles lost the war, it was a long time before nam was acknowledged as a war and not a police action and declared no such thing as agent orange..Here we are almost 40 years later where someone or all in Government doesn't want to take responsibility for their screwups.
Its amazing alot of us here went in the 60's and followed orders to the hill, never questioning them,,even if we didn't like'em and i'm here to tell ya our screwed over went right down to my grandkids because nobody would or wanted to hire us,,so we could have the good life we served to protect.. My question is,,how long will it take for wearer's of the uniform to get tired of all the negitive floating around,,I retired over 25 years and it still amazes me,we the protectors of the land, get screwed or rumor of getting.. I didn't like serving under bill clinton and would rather have seen McCaine in there to clean this mess up,,,one thing about politic's,,every Damn one of them's got the right answer,,in some cases till ya pin'em down on it.. If we have to fight our enimeys from within our own borders due to politicions greed for money and power,,which are hand and hand,,were just about screwed,,i question if any on of'em got the right answer since they all backed bush, which in the begining was a good deal, that should be followed up on. Some in this country call us ,the protector's of the land, war mongers,,sometimes is a neccessary dirty job,but somebody's gotta do it,,so just give us whats due, thats all We wanted in 68 and that's all the kids in these wars want today....... |

I didn't see anything about style in obama attempt to destroy the US military and put a civilian brown shirt foney organization in its place.
God knows we have to keep viligance with his antics because obama will be the biggest problem facing this Nation for the next 2 years. May God Bless America and keep the Military Safe through his hiatus. |

The Atomic Veterans were not taken care of.
The rest of the veterans from all of the other wars are just keeping the VA a job. Since the VA isn't doing their job. CLOSE THE DOORS. START OVER. Every time this Government starts a new war, the Disabled Veterans from the past war are forgotten. Now, all I see is the great help that the new war Veterans are getting. Thats good for them. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF US. I would gladly give up a arm or leg, hell all of them, if it meant I would get compensated properly. I am a Gulf War Vet. I suffer every single day, with problems that are a direct result of my service in the Gulf War. The doctors have lied, ignored, not treated, denied me treatment. Written false info in the Veteran Medical Record. I hand delivered, PROOF, that the doctors LIED about me. Nothing was done to correct it. I requested a copy of my Active duty medical record. It took SEVEN YEARS. And then, it is very clear that I didn't get all of it. Someone CHANGED so dates. All entries start with the members age. OOPS. Two entries, with different hand writing, different style of letters. They changed the date, for what ever reason, but, oops, forgot to change the age on one page. The second page the age WAS WRITTEN OVER. I finally received the record, it had a blank page with the copies. Medical records don't have blank pages. OOOPS. All of the copies of the medical record were mixed up. They go back in the record and copy old info that is wrong. There is a entry about a gun shot to my left hand. I DON'T HAVE A GUN SHOT WOUND TO MY LEFT HAND. BAIT!!!!!!!!! I fell running to GQ. They awarded me 20% for my back. I went and asked for an increase. They wrote in the C&P that it had got worse. NO INCREASE. WHY?????????????? I am going to finish writing this book and let everyone know the truth about the VA's so called treatment. |

"I cannot remember -- and I've been doing [veterans' advocacy work] for 35 years -- any sitting president ever inviting us over and sitting down with us to talk about a policy-related issue," Gorman said. "So we were very grateful for that. It showed us a lot."
I wonder if this was ever a "proposal" the President made or was this an idea the new Vet Chief came up with? I think the latter. First off, it's not the President job to make "proposals concerning matters for vets", it's the vet chiefs job, along with a committe, the President do make them policy if accepted, all vet's if you are retired or not, should know that. A lot has happened over the last years, so much that the truth about what suppose to happen has been so distorted that most vets don't know if they are comming or going. If you are going to blame somebody for something that has not happened, then you need to get your head out of your fourth point of contact, and like a 1SG used to tell us when I was a private, "don't be so da-- gulible" if you have a question, ask somebody. Contact your nearest vet administrator for answers. If you have lost confidence in the VA for the actions of the last years, then we do have a problem. And if there's any vet playing politics with vet matters, then you are not a vet, you're just somebody that wore a uniform for a short period of time. There's an old saying "You keep them dumb and you keep them in line" an old 1SG told me about that too. Some of you vets have been so dumb downed you don't even know who you are anymore, and thats a shame. |

If memory serves me Mr. Obama has no military experience In my opinion he is unfit to rule as commander in cheif of our military. Likewise, he does not understand what being a soldier means and what this service in turn should be rewarded with. He as every American and its uninvited guests do loves the freedoms provided by our military but does not want to honor them appropriately. When giving your life, body, spirit and mental health to fight for our freedom the least you should be able to expect is medical care for the injuries you sustained. Stealing your money by forcing you to pay higher premiums for care after you have given so much is a crime. Taking your small raise by increasing costs in other venues is stealing, short and simple. A president who steals from its soldiers is not worthy of my respect nor is he worthy of the sacrifices these soldiers have incurred. I did not vote for Mr. Obama simply because I did not believe his platform statements to be anything more than public babble and so far, he is proving that my instincts have been correct. At every turn there is some sort of scandal, improvision, exception to something he said he would not do or just plain discourse. I do however believe that our soldiers rights while active duty or retired should be protected and they should be awarded the highest respect for their service.
Thank you soldiers! |

These are people who put their life on the line for us ... and were injured because of that ...
many of these veterans quality of life ... AND of course potential to earn a full income is FOREVER limited because of what they have done ... and what they have lost! [that is what service connected means!] Now to even consider charging them a COPAY for that health care .... IS JUST PLAIN WRONG there was NO condition of a COPAY in the PROMISE that we would take care of them if they were hurt MOST OF THESE Veterans do not have other health care so they are the "uninsured" that OBAMA makes such a big deal about taking care of ... those that do ALREADY have their insurance charged! but a co pay would come out of the pockets of those that can afford it the least One shouldn't have to have your mind changed by Political pressure ... one should do the right thing because it is the right thing. The Question should never have been asked! style points my ass ... the guy is SLIME SO where does he draw the line? Maybe next he should consider letting convicted child molesters and murders out of prison ... or kicking elderly people out of nursing homes if they don't die with in a prescribed time.. simply because it would save costs ... [No this was not a ridiculous comparison because if anything is on the table then we should consider all options] Some things cross the line of decency - and to even consider such means you have NO MORALS! |

I'm trying to figure out who is giving Omaba this off the wall advice about the military regarding having the military pay for their own medical care in a war the Govt declared. This is (was) just beyond common sense. I've said give Obama a chance, now I'm not so sure if this is the way his decisions are made. Common sense also tells one don't mess with the Vets. I've just got this bad feeling about his decision making process. Many in Govt are getting the same feeling---just watch the news.
