I retired from the Army with 21 years service back in 1988. I then worked for civil service for 18 years and decided to combine the two and retire from civil service with 39 years. My military retired pay was stopped as a result. If I am awarded VA disability compensation, how will that work? Since there's no military pay to offset in my case, will I just get checks directly from the VA?
