Gentleleaded,

This article and Bill has nothing to do with the Chapter 61's. You need to get your information straight before you get all bent out of shape.

The increase sounds good if they pass the bill. I hate to sound pesimestic but I wonder what the catch is? Did the money come from another part of the budget or defense funds? Oh well, keeping my fingers crossed and saying prayers it passes.

I am interested to see if the passage of this bill will have a positive impact on veterans benefits and veterans healthcare. I am sure that most disabled veterans are waiting to see if recommendations that were made to increase disability pay will be implemented. The current system is woefully inadequate for living a dignified life. I wonder how long it will take to train the 1800 benefits conselors and if they will be competent to make determinations accurately or make the backlog of appeals worse. I think the actions of this bill will not be felt for at least two years and it will be interesting so see what happens in future years. Will the budget be increased again or decreased?

The VA is woefully inadequate in MANY areas. I have been battling those idiots for over two years regarding CRDP.

IF you too are sick of battling the VA, try one of these two organizations for assistance.

The Disabled American Veterans
Your State Veterans Services office

The DAV helped me appeal my initial disability rating. The good folks at our State Veterans Service office are helping me to recoup quite a bit of money in back disability.

Senator Larry Craig,is a dirt bag that is how I feel about him n because of him this bill is being help up because he feels that priority eight veterans would take away from the veterans Iraq n Afghanistan, the last time I checked we who all served were all veterans n I do not give a damn about some priority group we veterans were put into by this stupid *** system the VA made up the key word here is Veterans and we should all be entitled to use it if we served bottom line here OK.And as for the rest of this bill I am glad that it has been approved and that they will have more claims personnel to process all of us veterans I included who have filed for benefits or increased benefits n would like to see them before I drop dead has anyone ever noticed how much the board Of Veterans Appeals r a bunch of dirt bags they act as thought the benefits or increases we r requesting is coming personally out of there damn pocket n it has gotten to the point that u either have to go to the appeals with n organization (A.L.,VFW,DAV) to win ur case or a lawyer who knows his/her stuff or take it to the United States Veterans Claims Court, because those yahoos in the BVA,want to give u a severe hard time what in the hell is wrong with those A..wipes.I am all for anything that has to be done for all of us veterans in the way of benefits it is good to know at least some people in the House n Senate r looking out for us because that scum bad (Bush) n his administration sure as hell r not and I can't wait to see that (Turd) leave the White House n 2009 n tumbleweed his way back to Texas,n never leave that state once he returns with Laura,n his loony daughters he has been one of the worst since Nixon,n that is saying something for sure.So give us all we r entitled to and the facilities to maintain n help our Popcorn Argue Applause returning veterans from combat n the ones we still have here now trying to make it through everyday life one day at a time.

I am no fan of GWB, but he has NOTHING to do with the way the VA is. You really need to get rid of that BDS you have.

MANY politicians TALK about supporting veterans, very few will actually support us. That crosses party lines.

Right On, infantry 76!
As a Group 8 veteran, I've written my congressmen many times. Their response was "budget restraints". (all republicans)This "budget restraint" was part of the 2003 defence budget written in late 2002. This was relative to Rumsfeld's decision to cut our forces to be a leaner & faster army.
It grips my A-- to see Bush stand in front of our servicemen and tell how much he supports our veterans. Hypocrit would be my first description of him, along with arrogant, self serving, mentally incapable etc.....
Have you noticed how many times he uses the military as an audience to prop up his stupidity. What's sad is that a good portion of the public fall for it.
Note: Many of us served in warring countries that were not so called "declared wartime".
And Over 30,000 income after med. expenses is not rolling in money.
