Hi Vets. Has anyone else run into this situation?

I retired on 1 Jan 2005. At that time, my RSO from Ft. Polk sent my paperwork to VA Houston. Due to my physical address, which they already knew, the paperwork had to be forwarded to the correct VA office in Waco. It took six months for them to identify that it was at the wrong office, and to send it to the correct one. VA Waco took another 12 months to complete the claim in June 2006. At this time I filed for CRSC and it was completed in Aug. 2006. I received a retroactive payment back to June 2006. I contacted DFAS in Oct. 2006 to find out why I was not paid back to my CRSC start date of Feb. 1, 2005. They were not able to give me an explanation. The Ft. Hood RSO also could not give me an explanation as to why the retroactive pay was not paid to Feb. 1, 2005. MIL.com states there has been a back-log of CRSC payments, which DFAS would have complete no later than Nov. 2007. As of this date, I still have not been paid back to the effective date, nor have I received any explanation as to why not.

Every Retiree that files for VA compensation and CRSC compensation receives more or less money, depending on how long it takes VA to process and settle the claim. Retiree’s are being punished because of this procedure.

I do not believe it was Sen. Reid’s intention when he drafted the CRSC bill, to punish Retiree’s because of VA’s timeline to complete claims.
