Preaching to the choir here. Did this get published by the AP, UPI, Reuters, or McClathchey? That's where it's needed.

So just what is the problem?

Is it coming home to a nation that hasn't noticed? Or coming home as a respite from an unfinished war? If it was a noble undertaking then there should be no blaming, or there should be no defense of it or soldiers, necessary.

The problem is the 'nobility' is an exercise in public relations designed to soften the obvious; that the forces of liberty and freedom visited death and destruction, with some apparent glee, on a fairly defenseless nation for little apparent reason. And some if not most of those people, continue to resist them.

That the Commander-in-Chief chose to downplay the gravity of his actions by encouraging the nation to fight the war in malls and shopping centers, might lie at the root of the continuing 4th of July celebrations that this soldier, at least, might think are uncaring, unknowing or seemingly unappreciative.

Other soldiers, in wars past, spent longer times away from home in circumstances equally dire if not more dangerous. They came home with a different attitude.

This shouldn't need published in AP, UPI, Reuters and McClatchey.

Don't mess with the OLD FARTS - age, skill, wisdom, and a little treachery always overcome youth and arrogance......

I think we should have had a big hugeeeeeeeeeee party when our troops left Iraq, just as they danced in the streets that we were leaving.

Then after we properly celebrated one mission we could send our troops back out for more in Afgan.

It is just wrong that Obama did not make more of a big deal with our troops when departing Iraq and it is wrong that the media did not cover it at least as much as they cover MJ

And it is really wrong that we the people don't make our suits and media accountable for not treating our military as the main story.
