The Chinese Navy is undertaking a tremendous modernization effort, similar to the Russian effort. The US is also in need of modernization, but lacks the funding to do everything it wants. The fact is that even great weapon systems get old and worn out. The US navy has signed on to purchase the F-35 even though it doesn't have supercruise capability like the F-22. Seems like supercruise is over rated.

Depends on the scenario. If you need to respond quickly, it is the thing to have. The additional acceleration is a pretty handy, too. Since there is only one plane that can do it with a full weapons load (F-22), hard to say how much it is over, or under, rated.

It strikes me that the Chinese, who are still having their problems with jet engine development, are either going to be a lot of years away from the naval supercruise fighter they want, or they have already managed to steal the technology from the F-22 program.

Wouldn't surprise me. The engine in their J-10 supposedly has a lot in common with the F-110 and their new destroyers look a lot like offspring of Adm. Burke.

We and the rest of the world are being given a "wakeup call" by the Chinese. It begs the question of if we are just going to be in a wait and see mode or actually address the issue in a timely manner. I can foresee right now, that if the Chinese start producing carriers, Japan and most likely South Korea will not be far behind.

The sleepers in this country had better wake up and take heed to the conniving Chinese as they already have one of the biggest spy networks in this country with the likes of a president like Bill Clinton who stood down and let them steal our sub propeller technology and everything he gave them for campaign contributions.

Wouldnt surprise me if they had. The J10 wasnt successful until after they got an F16 from Chavez and the J11 is a clone of the Su27 series that still needs Russian engines as the chinese made ones still eat themselves.

Unless they have stolen something from the US then I cant see them with any supercruise aircraft any time in the next 15 years. As the J-11 and J-10 prove, even then thats no guarantee of quick success.

Umm shouldn't this thread have an article to come with it?

Btw, AK_47 man, a better place to post this topic would have been the US-China forum of military.com.
