Sounds like they will have theirs in the air before the USAF and Obama Pentagon get their act together on the replacing the 50 year old KC135

tennisfan, forgive me for going a little off topic here but I figured I would ask here instead of starting a new thread.

I live in Southern New Hampshire close to what was Pease AFB, now a public airport with an ANG refueling wing still there.

I've been seeing KC-135's for most of my life and have also seen a number of the KC-10's.

The other day, I saw what looked like a KC-135 flying right over me at a low altitude. The thing is, it only had one engine on each wing instead of the two on each. As it passed over, I couldn't make out if it had a tail engine but it didn't look like it. Still, I thought it looked like the KC-135 as it didn't appear to be large enough to be a KC-10.

Any ideas as to what the heck I was seeing?

Don

Maybe a KC-767 variant or the KC-330 Airbus that is flying.

Was there a boom and/or wing pods?

Embraer is setting itself up to be a leader in the airplane manufacturing world. The E170 / E190 jets are a pleasure to ride in and really fit a good niche in between the big gas-guzzlers and the hideous, uncomfortable Canadair regional jets.

Could be, thanks for the reply. Yes, it did have a boom.

Get to know the profile, it may be the next bullet sponge for the U.S.A.F. fighter jocks, when we go to war, hopefully not, in South America...

Chavez will be ordering a dozen to extend the range of those Russian birds he bought last year.

Embraer has done a fabulous job of carving its niche in the aircraft industry and I agree, much better than the Canadair jets.
I expect it will get some foreign sales as well.
Chavez will probably be interested, Im sure.
