Alot of good information for the incoming POTUS. My hope is that Chect Edwards of TX would get the VA job.
Do a search on him and you will fined the congressman has been recognized by vet groups for his outstanding support more than any other member of either house or either party of congress. ______________________________________________________________________ I’m asking “ALL” military.com members to carry this number with them. Be ready to give it to any vet you meet who may need someone to talk to. You could be a life saver. Thank you, Bruce ______________________________________________________________________ A listening ear, a caring heart, an open mind and an extend hand may be all I can offer, but they are yours without charge or judgment. |

Where do you get off comparing O'Bama (sic)to Mccain as great patriot?? What has he done lately besides spending less than 150 days as a congressman? We are not even certain he was born a US citizen! Stop trying to lick his boots so soon.

Their is a complete article on this in the Nov-Dec issue of the DAV
Magazine. Titled Health Care Funding Reform Bill Introduced. It is written by Dave Autry. The Veterans Health Care Budget Reform Act ( S. 3527/H.R. 6939 ) would authorize funding for the VA medical services a year in advance and adrres one of the VAs top priorities to ensure sufficient , timely and predicitable funding for Veterans health care," said Washington Headquarters Executive Director David W. Gorman. Advanced funding would be a vast improvement over the current budget and apropriations process, which has become highly politicized and puts both the VA health care system and its patient population at risk. In the Past 21 years , the VA spending bill has been completed on time JUST TWICE. If you want the rest of the story get a copy of your local DAV magazine and read the rest of the story. Or if the Mods would like I will write it out and post it so that the writer and the DAV get all the credit for this article. So no letter to Obama, send your letter to Congress and tell them that over the last 21 years you have failed Americas Veterans. In the same Nov-Dec issue of the DAV it talks about Chu and the DOD have Narrowed the Combat-Related Definition. A part of the article reads, Under Secretary Chu, apparently disregarding the broader intent of Congress, has limited the definition of " Combat Related" disability to exclude disability resulting from hazardous service, duty under conditions simulating War or incurred through an instrumentality of War incurred outside of a combat zone. Their is also more to this story in your local Nov-Dec DAV magazine. |

The DAV, MOPH, VFW, and others have tried for years to get the VA fully funded. I have been writing for years myself to see that it happens, I will not live long enough to ever see that happen. America and its so called elected Leaders and even Americans who know this needs to happen will not come together long enough to make it happen. If Americans really cared about its Veterans, this would happen right now. They Don`t so it won`t. G.O. |

Obama will be a disaster to the military and the United States. His campaign promises to cut the military and surrender in Iraq will bring a attack on our country worst then 9-11-01. First time in my adult life, "I AM NOT PROUD TO BE A AMERICAN!"
Robert P. Fickes, MSgt (Ret) P.S. My opinion of Colin Powell endorsing Obama remind me of another general 200 hundreds ago, his name was "Bendict Arnold" |

Who is that statement direct toward? A listening ear, a caring heart, an open mind and an extend hand may be all I can offer, but they are yours without charge or judgment. |

What is your problem - give the man a chance - you have no reason to believe that he is not up to the job. The man is educated, showed that he could put a great organization together to achieve the Presidency. To indicate that General Powell be compared to Bendict Arnold is just another comment made by an obvious ignoramus and nincompoop. In America we support our President and CINC, if you don't, I recommend you find another country to live in and take all those other poor excuses for military retirees or Vets that don't support our President to be, with you. You remarks are not justified unless you are a racist. McCain and the President have the courage to support him and the majority of all military, active, retired, and vets should also support him. |

Right on, RichardSl:
People please give President O'Bama a chance. You naysayers keep saying that he is going to do this and going to do that, he will wreck the military and screw the veterans. Let's wait and see what happens. Remember, anything that he is planning on doing needs to get through the House and Senate and if we have done our jobs electing Representatives and Senators, then there is probably nothing to worry about. |

Nope, Tammy Duckworth will get the job. She deserves it. "I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies." - T. Jefferson |

From the article -
While that was one of Rieckhoff's better articles, I take exception to the above. While technically a true statement, there are at least two reasons why the transferability option needed to be embodied in legislation - 1) It provides something that can be counted on (a degree of permanence) as opposed to something that can be given and taken away at the whim of the Pentagon. The fact that IAVA included it as its #2 issue is evidence of that. Were the provision not in the GI Bill, there would be no tangible grounds for raising it as an issue. 2) The program requires funding. It adds something like 8 billion to the package cost of the bill, not something that can be readily absorbed within anyone's budget. |

Quote “Congratulations to President-elect Obama. Both he and Senator McCain are outstanding patriots.” I totally disagree with Mr. Rieckhoff, McCain yes, Obama ASOLUTELY NOT!!!!.... This man will be more destructive to the military community that bILL kLINTON ever was… Mark my words… We are heading into some of the “darkest days” our country has ever known. Not figuratively, but literally. I foresee military and retiree pay being frozen of even cut in the future.. Don’t think so???.... FDR did it in the 30’s… So Stand the F@#K by brothers and sisters… This message has been edited. Last edited by: IC2SS19Z50C5, |
