Well, I would say we should have been on our toes since 1979, but I agree with the point. 1979, 1983, 1993 at the latest, the picture should have been perfectly clear.

If the e-mails I receive are anywhere close to the truth his allegience it's not much of a secret. And, it's open to the media or anyone that would care to find out how he spent his college years and his early political development, who and where he spent his time.

Who came in peace? The Marines?

They came. They set up battle positions. They started operations. They got blown up. They left.

The fault for the disaster in Lebanon lies squarely with the Marine commanders on the ground. They directed their sentries to stand guard with empty rifles.

While it is true that the State Department requested that the Marines not carry loaded weapons, the local Marine commanders had the discretion to arm their sentries and to give them specific rules for engagement.

I have heard Marine officers who were present at the time say as much. Since then, we should note, no such request has been made by the State department; and I 'm sure it would be disregarded by the Marines if it were made.

Incidentally, both the French and Italians suffered from similar attacks, probably because they placed similar restrictions on their troops.

Popsig, you never fail to amaze me with your cynicism. You have a lot of gall impuning the loss of those 241 brave Marines on that fateful day. It is plainly apparent to me that you have no friggin' clue about UN Peacekeeping operations. Those Marines were in Beirut at the request of the UN and it was their mission to provide active patrolling as a means to separate warring factions in Lebanon. The fact that they happened to be static and in their sleeping quarters at the time of the truck bomb attack is moot, however, to have a jerk like yourself malign the loss of those Marines is just another clear signal to other posters in these forums that you only come here to disrupt and create controversy. I'll bet a pile of cash that you don't talk like that about Canada's military forces, do you?

I am tired of your anti-American bile rhetoric. Yes, Americans died. Maybe that brings a smile to your face, but I would...

Never mind.

5 day suspension. You must contact the lead moderator to be reinstated - I will not do it once the 5 days are up.

It's not that there is no God or that He isn't listening. You're probably just asking the wrong questions.

What ever happened to the A-6 pilot (or navigator) that was captured when the A-6 got shot down? I think Jesse J went over to get him released?

Thats ok, they aren't... Popsiq soiled with thread with his crap, and now you are doing the same, but I supposed since the person involved is someone "we" don't like, Its okay to spread lies about, to impune ("if the emails I received are true" Roll Eyes) and smear, it just not a big deal...

I imagine old poopsy double over in hysteric's when Seaman Stethem body was dropped to Beirut airport tarmac after being murdered by the same gang the orchestrated the barracks bombing. Lt Colonel Higgins wearing the blue helmet of the of the UN, poop laughed himself crazy when he was hung in public. Or little Bonnie Witherall dispensing TLC with her British husband, a Doctor, to the south Lebanese citizens when some illiterate blew her brains out because she was from the west. We could go on and on. But to clarify his less than intelligent description of the the events, both 241 U S Marines and 70 French Marines that were killed that day were part of the UN solution to the desinegration of a once beautiful democratic Arab nation. That should give you a hint of the cause for the civil war. Much like you see in any Islam State that doesn't subscribe to fringe cult that continues to steal and religion and provides human sufferage. The same forces that Hizbullah and Poopsie swears allegiance to.

Since no one else helped. I found it

Lt Mark Lange died in captivity. And Robert Goodman was released....

In January 1984, Jesse Jackson, Jeremiah Wright, and Louis Farrakhan travelled to Libya and Syria. The mission's peaceful purpose was accomplished, as he secured the release of Goodman.[1]

I never knew about Louie and Jerry being there?

As I recall the marines at the gate had no ammo in their M16s as part of the deal at the airport. Also, the marine commandant was overruled by Sec of State Schultz and Pres. Reagan as to having the marines on low ground. Again, Reagan proved again that he was the "Teflon President" as the press was often on bended knee, not exposing his mental state which (precursor to Alzheimers) really was pronounced in his second term. October, 1983 was a terrible month for the Marine Corps, the army and the airforce.
