This is great news. Now they will look simular to the Marines. Blue has always been my favorite color. However, I do miss those TW's I used to wear as a young paratrooper.

I guess that after the phase out, we can no longer use the term "Big Green Machine".

I wonder how they're going to integrate the Overseas service bars into the large service stripes currently worn on the Blues, or are they going to ditch those stripes in favor of the tiny hack marks which were worn on the Greens. Personally, though, I'd have like to seen the return to the WWII-era brown wool uniforms as well as the "pinks and greens" not to mention the "Ike" jacket.

Duster, they will not look similar to the Marines. They will be more professional in appearance and much sharper to reflect the Army's image. I have always found the Army Blues to be more of a corporate military look. As long as you boys dont get the horse collar, it will not resemble the Marines Dress Blues. Additionally, I dont know what measure the Army goes into fitting their blues, but Marines Blues fitting is a second boot camp! Oo-Rah and a big LOL:! It about time that the Army go back to our pass and stop The Generals from coming up with their personel uniforms, We always have Blues untill that Roosvelt come up with that sorry uniform doing the Spain American War,

I didn't think the Army greens looked all that bad. when I was in the Corps [yeah I know a long time ago Big Grin] we had Tans, [summer] Greens [all but summer] and of course our "blues" all were considered Class A uniforms. I wonder if the Army is going to issue any kind of summer uniform?

If a tree falls in a forest and lands on a politician, even if you can't hear the tree or the screams, I'll bet you'd at least hear the applause.

Ah, yeas! Dress blues and tennis shoes! It's dress up time. Only time I got to wear the blues was for a dinning in or out, and the various balls.

Greens were always a pain. During my career, believe they went through either two or three variations that you had to have. Did like the Class B, though. What with the wash and wear shirt, it was a comfortable office uniform, particularly the short sleeve.

Oh wells! Mine are long gone and are not missed!

I still have a pair of TWs hanging in my closet. Sharpest summer uniform the Army ever had. Class "B"s in comparison sucked... gag me, looked like a low rent flight attendant’s uniform...

Switching back to a blue uniform puts the army back to the pre-1902 days. 1902 being as I remember the year that the Army went to a green wool uniform. Now that was a sharp uniform, the one with the high collar. The WWII and pre-WWII Army green wool uniform was an excellent uniform also. But the new Dress Blues will certainly simplify things… Now if they would just bring back kakis/TWs??????

PS, dump that beret too. Bring back the garrison cap instead.

Agree on your assessment!...
Why is it that when the military wants to "simplify" things, they go half way and then do the exact dumbest thing that they possibly can!...
What's next?
I know, they can make spurs and Cavalry "Stetson" style hats mandatory...
Hey, since they're at it, bring back riding boots and jodhpurs, those big baggy seated pants that the cavalry wore!...
Shoot go back to the original stripes, the ones that everyone now thinks are inverted, but are actually they way they were really worn and not the actual inverted ones that are worn today!...
This is nothing but some bone headed people taking a really, really, good idea and totally frakking it up!...
Living proof that the elephant is a horse designed by an Army board!...

It seems every few years they change something on uniforms Air Force, Marines, Navy and Army our tax dollars could be better put to use. When a top service commander is appointed it seems they like to change the uniform to their liking but not usually to that of the feild military wearer. A simple and comfortable uniform is what we wanted and propably still due with some distinguising design for pride in service. Maybe its time go back to basics and start again until they can get it right talk to the field user not the desk jockey.

Marine Blues outshine them all. I believe even MarineAuntie would agree.

I may be a bit biased but I always thought the Marine Corps blues were the best looking uniform, period. I know the Army will disagree,(don't we always? lol), but honestly, if they can do something to commerate the prices the Army has paid with a red piping, as the Marines have, then the look will take on a uni-color look. I think the Army should put some piping, like the red piping I alluded to, to pay homage to the ones who are still out on assignment and won't come home. Down through the ages the two have had their rivalries but when the enemy arrive, we all bleed green, or red, white and blue. Just a note not meant to p#ss off anyone just a thought. Semper Fi, y'all.

great, now the army is trying to be more like its badass older brother the Marine Corps, just leave things the way they are and spend money on better ballistic protection instead of spending it on making the Army pretty. And It won't look like the Marine's at all, it will look like the Air Force's.
