Let's see...junior NCO with junior NCO from different units, tent flap up (not to mention 2 peoples spirits), missionary position only (can't violate the UCMJ), no one in the tent minds (everyone might be doing it at the same time), HAPPY DAYS!

It is about time. We are not machines that can be just turned off. They won't let us drinkl, they won't let us fraternize, and then they send us off to war. Whatthe hell do they expect us to do for a year? I'm sorry but they made it a co-ed armed forces, now they should deal with the reality that when human beings are sent away for a year or more from home, there is gonna be some hanky panky going on. Wether they like it or not, the result of not letting soldiers engage in normal relations is really bad for everyone. It always ends up with the worst case scenarios taking place because they tried to bottle up human nature. Not to mention making the worst environments even more horrible. (IRAQ) Besides what consenting male and female soldiers do behind closed doors on their own time is their own business. Not the Army's. If your gonna send adult men and women to war you had better expect that these things are gonna happen no matter what regulation or reprecussion they throw at you. They might be soldiers but they are also human. Its time the Army start treating all of its soldiers like adults, and leave the no fraternization nonsense in basic and A.I.T. where it belongs. You can go die for your country, but if you just happen to get lucky in the process we'll send you to jail and take your money! What a crock of sh@t! Get a grip Army, join the real world.

I agree ... I'm in Kuwait and not Afghanistan, so this doesn't apply to me (yet) but so long as they do as they always have and ensure we have condoms and other such protection readily available why not let us have sex?

Keep all of the provisions that apply anywhere: No same sex relations, no Officer and Enlisted, no senior to junior in the same chain of command, etc. but allow people to be people.

What happens when a female gets pregnant? If she's doing a 12-month deployment, where does she have the baby? Who will have to replace here when she has to take leave to deliver the baby? Condoms don't always work.

Ah the dark ages, 15 months or more and NO sex??
the old generals haven't had sex in years and they think everybody can abstain,, woman in the service? they used to be call hookers army or cmp followers, if you have boys and girls together you are going to have sex. Maybe you can have a shorted deployment 2-4 months and the "sex crimes" will stop get real

As we go forward into the 21st century, mores will change and we will finally realize that we are sexual beings. One cannot shut these feeling off. How about a trip to Mars in the future. A crew of only men? A crew of only women? I think not. A mixed crew of probably unwed young people will start and who knows where it will end, maybe with several additions to the crew enroute. What a future, and I'm too old to enjoy, darn.

I think that the whole ban is very hypocritical to start with. Consider the fact that many of the lawmakers who tightened the rules of behavior for military members are married men who have mistresses on the side. They live in relitive comfort and safety while us military folk deal with incredible danger much of the time. I just don't think it's really fair to have our leaders set a poor example and then say "do as I say, not as I do."
