Catchy headline, kinda crappy article. I didn't like how none of the research companies were actually named. Oh, well. Interesting though.

while vast and high bandwidth capability was built in the late 90s, it hasnt been exploited the way it has in just the past 4 or 5 years.
Now days its not how much data but how fast that data can travel from origination to destination. Even as recently as 2001, only 15% of internet users had high speed. More people, 85% still used dialup. Thats just facinating to think about. My new phone is light years faster and has more memory than even my second computer years ago. It even does things a PC couldnt do even 10 years ago.

Another thing that I find interesting is how porn has been instrumental in developing and expanding internet and other technologies, especially in the 90s. internet billing and online transactions, streaming video and more was developed and used for pornography first.

Its not unreasonable to think that given how technology has evolved in such a short span of time that the internet IS STILL a wild west of sorts and incidents like the article mentioned tell the tale that it is certainly very BIG business.

Its of the most extreme importance that the military/intellegence agencies stay on top of developments and threats and work hard to protect us from potential attacks, that while "simply" online, threaten to cripple a country that has become incredibly dependent on technology in every aspect of life.

If a tree falls in a forest and lands on a politician, even if you can't hear the tree or the screams, I'll bet you'd at least hear the applause.

Kind of a stretch to connect porn and high speed access, unless the operators in the AWACS can somehow pull it up on their screens. Would be interesting, though.

Anyway, a thousand lashes to the editor and author of the article. Getting people excited over nothing. Geeze!

I love that 'HEADLINE'. Catches the eye and titilates the imagination. Too bad the story was lacking what was advertised.

military.com is slipping faster then the travel of high speed internet.using porn to grab a head line,
First our troops are to young to drink,to young to see any porn if they choose, and almost to young to vote, but sure as hell not to young to die.
I been looking at porn from the first time I opened a penny catalog, and I grew up to be a pretty decent
man, spent years in public service, raised a great family.always tried to honor my obligations, now at 71 I can't see where it affected me in any way, lets face it you got ten apples , one is probably going to be bad, so why throw the other nine out ?
In our society we have laws, covering such things as drinking , porn ect" follow the laws and nothing to worry about, need to stop playing big brother to our troops, they can think for them selves.

Cyber Business/ Warfare would have been a more accurate title to this article.

The reason why a lot of hackers are going to the black hat side is that white hat hackers are either being ignored until someone creates a virus for the exploit, or the company that they show the exploit to sues them and/or calls them a terrorist.

So the easiest options are
a) ignore the exploit, laugh when it brings down the entire companies network
b) tell them, at the risk of getting arrested for hacking, even though you have told the company that the exploit is there, or
c) in jail, someone approaches you, and tells you how you can make money from selling such exploits.

As bad as C may seem, it's better than B and jail.

I swear this is the most dogmatic Christian Army in the middle east since the last crusade. No booze, no porn, no sex. It is INSANE.
