Wow. Talk about an eye opener. I was of the impression that if you were injured and could not complete your service (especially in wartime) that you were allowed to keep the bonus. I guess I was seriously mistaken. I can only hope that Congress will actually pass legislation to correct what basically amounts to breach of contract on the DoD's part (after all, it's not the soldier's fault that the jihadis got lucky). I'll definitely be writing to my Congresscritters about this.

Duplicate thread. Additionally, if you look at the other open threads, you will find a follow-up that reiterates that soldiers CAN keep their bonus if they left service short of enlistment completion as long as the reason wasn't due to misconduct. This was an isolated mistake, NOT policy, and has already been resolved.

Just thank "GOD" that some one screwed up
on this info.
I would have lost what little faith I have
left in the Government.
