RE: http://www.military.com/opinion/0,15202,140986,00.html
Meditation would be extremely beneficial to the military community, however I would not recommend Transcendental Meditation. It is based off Hindu religion, and utilizes mantras that other military members would not necessarily feel comfortable with. I would, instead, recommend the Mental Martial Arts Program, utilizing basic tenants behind meditation, and designing a curriculum that can be taught 'from cradle to grave' of a military member's career. It should be incorporated in boot-camp, and programs should be available on every installation/base. I have done quite a bit of research in this area, a lot of reading, and I also meditate. I think a program designed specifically for military members, based on martial arts mindsets would be best. |
