He had the tenacity of a Bull Dog! But it pales in comparison when I left the service with the US Air Force still owing me $17,000 or 44 months of educational entitlements. I'm not the only one who was given the "sorry Charlie" letter saying that we were advised to delay attending college (which I didn't) until retirement, whereupon the full benefit would be provided. It wasn't! The DOD, Secretary of the Air Force, and every education office in between, lied through their teeth! They changed the GI Bill law the eaxct month I retired from service. My inquiry was within the 10 window and I was still denied. So on one hand I'm happy the young troops with get their education. But where is the fairness provided to the Vietnam-era veteran! We're STILL waiting for ours!!!!!~!!

It is pathetic that "dozens of letters, phone calls and finally legislation" occur before lenders handle veteran students with the respect and consideration they deserve.

It's time to start boycotting these companies that wait until laws are passed before they do "the right thing."

I'm sick of hearing about businesses screwing over our veterans for a profit. Makes me want to puke

The best part is putting it to the University systems in this country. With few exceptions, the system is naught but the purveyor of Marxist ideology and backed up with the idea that total pacificism will keep one alive in this world. Actually, I am a little surprised that the University systems really admit combat Vets without a guard to check them out every hour on the hour

It's a shame that Vet's are being messed up by those whom they so effectivly defended. Think about this guys, the Vets on the mainland are getting the short end of the stick, I live in Puerto Rico, Vets are not worth nothing. Think about the pathetic issue we have to face down here. I went to get a new id card and the employee simply stated, the machine has been broken for over 2 years, use your drivers lic. or social security card as an id. Please be for real.

i will have to pay my own way. it seems like nobody knows about you unless they walk in your shoes. sometimes the people who are supposed to be in the know arn't the sharpest pencils in the box. they might be functioning in a semi wait state sleep state while they are supposed to be expert in educational benefits. you can't go by what people say. you have to get the hard evidence of your benefits in print online and in full. minions may turn you away ; while you still had education or rehabilitation benefits. minions may lose your mail and somehow ; your rights fall through the cracks. life can be complicated for the traumatized and for the veterans who spent more time caring for others ahead of themselves. some of us could have earned a PhD 20 years ago ; but we put others and careers ahead of ourselves. then we are told the 10 years are up. you re done. you don't get no education benefits. you are the blame. get lost. we don't want to hear it. well ; yanks if that was going to be the name of the game ; why didn't you say so ? we had other and better choices for education ; rather than hanging onto a hook of empty unfaithful promises. anyhow ; we have to just carry on. its another lesson in the reality of life. no education benefits for you old guys. fine ; Panama medical school looks ok to me. no bitter feelings. you didn't know and they didn't either. its just like 911 ; they didn't know until the terrorists got it right. Trump Plaza resorts in Baja overlooking Coronado ; where Granddad lived will bar me from living there because of low income. Fine ; we will defend you from terrorism. can't wait. veterans are diein to help ya. the rich need us then they don't. keep your flamein education benefits for the liberal non military or to whomever you politicians give it away. apparently they are too expensive for veterans. fat cats snap ; " get that vet outta here. don't ya know he could snap. " why would we snap ; we ve been taking ah $hit kicking for 20 yrs + and not one of us has snapped back. we were like good dogs. we did everything we were supposed to do. we did the grunt and middle management work. we made you look good. we paid taxes and for high finance loans. we didn't break the law. we didn't spy on our own country. we didn't schmooze with international terrorist businesses. we didn't break the 10 commandments. we don't even show up when some big shots or their families are in town so we don't get blamed for an incident. we re not getting lucarative government contracts. we are not anywhere near high power people. we don't tote illegal weapons sell drugs run prostitution rings kill police sabotage corporate structure or whack you and your whole family. why we even step down and aside for civilians to get better jobs with unrestricted career ladder automatic promotions... and i have had the pleasure like many vets of staying to man the desk of some college student of a higher gs rating ; while she goes to college for half the day ( on the Navy's money )... i was only too glad to carry their boxes of papers and play dumb. its what i do best. kow tow to people i'm supposed to trust and thank them for a check and for not threatening me ; for not sexually abusing my wife ; or worse thanks for not firing me so your friend can buy my house. education is better than money. deception is an act of telling a lie. deception uses omission of the truth. Education is better than cash because education never goes away. education can empower you for the rest of your life. bitterly i pain when i see the warrior classes hoodwinked by omission of the truth. " if we are such useless pukes to the ruling classes ; why do we want to use our education benefits ? "... something we earned but had to give back. th dead man said to th driver ; " thanks for th ride mister. thanks for th ride. oh ,its cool. my bust for forgetting its ah dog eat dog world. be cool . I'm cool with you. are you cool? oh , you don't care. you don't care unless you re hurting. well , i can dig it my brother. we cool. you be cool. don't worry about our education. we couldda got it on our own. be cool. thanks for th ride. I'm cool wit you."

Most of the times, people look at you as if they don't care about our service to this country. often their facial expression says "joining is a choice which you made. Now deal with it. Why should I care?" It is sickening to experience such ignorance. Apparently, everything needs to be passed into law these days. Courtesy is nonexistent. I say they pass a bill in this regard.
